I bought a used 2003 Buick Rendevous from this dealer after a test drive and the car seemed fine. Hours after purchase the check engine light went on and as I went to get it inspected it required $700 worth of work to pass inspection. I sent a letter to Joe at the dealer and asked if he would pay only half of what it cost to get the car to pass inspection which I thought was fair if he is indeed a reputable dealer and have heard nothing back from him. I do like the vehicle very much but would appreciate consideration on the matter which I believe is fair.Business Response

Consistent with other buyers complaints, I purchased a vehicle from Route 111 Auto Sales only to find out 2 days later that the frame is rotted and can not pass inspection. I was told that this Jeep Liberty will NEVER pass NH state inspection. I understand that the vehicle is 18 years old and sold “As is” but I paid top dollar for this vehicle. The sale price of $5500 on all “what is my vehicle worth” websites states that this cost would be fair IF the vehicle was in good condition. It definitely is not! Unfortunately without a lift it is impossible to inspect the undercarriage of any of his vehicles. Numerous complaints through BBB, the DOJ and his own website show a pattern of frame rot or damage with other vehicles he has sold. When I returned to the dealership to discuss options with Joe he looked under the vehicle and stated he didn’t see and rot. 2 NH state inspection stations did! Joe offered me a muffler (which was also bad) and $250 to patch a piece of metal to the rocker panel of the passenger door frame. He insisted there was no frame issue. I asked to trade the jeep in for another vehicle on his lot and he refused! That tells me he knows this Jeep is junk and he doesn’t want it either. So I am making payments for a vehicle that I can not afford to fix and cannot drive it. BBB gave this company a rating of A+ which is misleading the public. After reading complaints and Route 111 responses it is apparent that he takes no responsibility for his actions and no one is holding him accountable. I don’t know how he can sleep at night but wish him all the best !Business Response

We can understand and appreciate your concern. When you brought the vehicle back to the dealership we both looked under the vehicle and saw the minor issue. We both talked to the inspection station together who advised where the issue was and said there was a "hole" in the muffler (you and I were not able to find this "hole"). I have written you a check for more than the cost of the repairs needed and purchased a brand new muffler for you. This conditions of the sale were very clear and discussed before and during the paperwork process. I have refunded a portion of your purchase price and purchased a new muffler. We cannot exchange your vehicle for another you have a lienholder and cannot sell your vehicle until it is payed off. We wish you the best.Customer Answer

Joe is a typical used car salesman. We did look under the vehicle but neither he nor I are mechanics nor are we auto body technicians. 2 different NH state inspection stations stated the vehicle failed inspection due to frame rot. I am not one to question experts in the auto repair field. They had the vehicle on a lift. We tried to look under the vehicle in 90 degree weather on scorching pavement. I believe the experts. If he purchased a muffler I am not aware that he has it. He was to call me when it came in. I have not received a call. The estimated repair cost to get this vehicle safe and able to pass inspection is $2200-$3400. His offer of $250 is a joke! And for information purposes you can in fact trade in a vehicle with a lien holder against it. I don’t know what world he lives in but you do not have to own a vehicle outright to trade in it. He knows it’s a piece of junk and doesn’t want it back.
Do not to wish me and my family the best! If he truly meant it he would help in resolving this issue. That’s his answer the everything…I wish you and your family the best

I am confused it appears ***** ****** ** has been filing this complaint for his son. His son ***** ****** ** has purchased 2 vehicle from Route 111 auto sales including the one referenced in the complaint. ***** ***** ** is much more polite and respectful than ***** ****** ** and would not have responded in this aggressive personal manner. ***** ****** ** (customer) knows the muffler has been waiting for him to pick up at the autozone in Plaistow but in case he has forgotten it is still waiting for him to pick up. This vehicle was purchased as is with documentation clearly stating this vehicle would not pass inspection as required per state and federal laws. The partial refund of $250 and the purchase of a new muffler will be the only goodwill I will be able to provide.Initial Complaint

On June 17, 2022, we purchased a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. It has about 175,000 miles. At Route 111 auto sale in hampstead. Before the purchase, While my daughter is checking it out, I asked Joe the dealer if there’s anything wrong with the jeep. He said no nothing is wrong with it and it’s good to go. I bought the jeep using my credit card and my daughter signed all the paperwork, we registered the jeep the same day. And we brought it to Monroe in Hudson NH to get it inspected on June 21,2022. The mechanic showed me the frame how rusted it is and has holes and was painted so the people like me won’t see the rust. He said it’s not safe to drive. I called the dealer but I got answering machine. I called again on June 22,2022. And talked to Joe, he said he help pay to fix the frame. He gave me a number to call. I called my mechanic and asked their opinion, he said that the frame is not in good shape that even if they fix it it will not last. June 23,2022, I went to the dealer and hoping I could return the jeep, I talked to Joe and told him that I am not comfortable having my daughter drive it. And that If I could return it. I told him that if I’ve known that the frame is all rusted I would not bought it. It was covered with paint therefore I couldn’t tell that it was rusted underneath. My daughter safety is my main concern. I don’t know what to do. Please help.Business Response

This vehicle was not purchased by ******* ****** the complainant.
The vehicle referenced in the complaint showed up at my place of business on 06/23/22 with ******* demanding a full refund. I advised her I will help with any repairs but returning the vehicle was not an option. While the tow truck was here I looked closely at the vehicle and saw 2 spots where someone had pushed or hit something on the frame to cause a small divot. I asked the tow truck driver if he saw anything I didn't. He told me "he I have owned 3 of these wranglers and this was by far the best one he had ever seen" I am willing to help if a repair is needed. The customer should get a second opinion from a shop of her choice.

On 1/28 I purchased a used vehicle from Joe G********* at Rt. 111 Auto Sales in Hampstead, NH for $5,000. I was told the vehicle did not pass inspection but any repairs needed would be covered by a "warranty" he included. My mechanic quickly informed me that the car was nearly worthless, beyond repair and the warranty covered nothing. This guy lives in Mass. and sells his cars in NH because he is aware of the Lemon Law in MA and can't be sued for his actions in NH. After realizing I got burned for $5K I looked at his yelp reviews and saw other stories similar to mine including keeping deposits, selling unsafe vehicles and the empty "warranty". One customers car died trying to drive from his lot. How many more people will this guy steal from? What if someone is injured or god forbid killed in one of his vehicles? I have been told I cannot sue but I hope that the BBB can try to help me get my money (or some of it) back from this professional thief.Business Response

On 1/28/22 Route 111 auto sales inc a corporation sold Mr, ******* a 2005 Kia minivan. The terms of this sale were as is and he was notifies of the conditions of this sale in writing. The service contract we included in the advertised of $4995 is a powertrain warranty and NO ONE told Mr. ******* it would cover anything that went wrong with the vehicle. We have offered to help Mr. ******* when his mechanic called us. We have not heard from Mr. ******* in over 4 months. We have sold thousands of vehicles and our customer satisfaction rate is over 99%. We do wish Mr. ******* the best.

I am rejecting this response because: Seller did say that warranty would cover repairs to enable vehicle to pass inspection. Otherwise I would not have bought a vehicle without a sticker. Seller has history of similar complaints about selling junk unfixable vehicles. Should have known something was wrong. I wish I read Yelp before going there.

We will not be able to provide any financial relief for the complainant. We believe reviews positive and negative are part of free speech. ***** ******** has been publishing reviews/ complaints accusing me of criminal activity. When a review that contains blatant factual inaccuracies that harm your business could be grounds for a defamation lawsuit. We wish ***** the best.
