My friends and I attended a wedding event in Sarasota, FL. Outside the venue there was a raffle we all entered to win a gift card to our local grocery store. We assumed, like all other vendors there, that this person was vetted though it was strange he was outside near the box office and not inside. A few days after the event, ALL of us received a call from John S**** stating congratulations you won! We were all told we won a very valuable package and we needed to call him immediately or else we would lose this opportunity. He made no mention of the ****** gift card which is what we entered to win. I thought it was very strange that we all won so I decided to dig a little deeper. Turns out this guy posts up outside large events and pretends to hold raffles for various items yet never gives any prizes and instead attempts to scam people. Not only are there other complaints listed with the BBB, there are several threads online of other people being taken advantage of by him. Instances where he pretends to be a travel agent and offers free vacations but you have to give your credit card to verify it is really you. Other times he pretends he will give away a car. I contacted the wedding event planner and she had no idea who he was and stated the venue allowed him to be there so they assumed he had been vetted. This guy will not stop calling all of us every day. This has to stop. I have no idea how this guy is allowed to set up fake raffles at events and scam and harass people while continuing to get away with it. I want him to stop calling us and I want to know that he is no longer allowed to do this to other people. These venues have to stop allowing him to offer free giveaways only to obtain people's personal information.

Thank-you for your concern. JCSwain Enterprise has been in business for over 12 years. We are the notification & reservation company for several reputable resorts/ hotels. We have over 100 employees & very rarely have anyone complain. Although we're not currently accredited with the BBB we still have a  A+ rating. We are not a scam in anyway. Whatever the gift is you were notified for *******/vaca cert, gift card ext. you really do receive this at no cost or obligation paid for from form you filled out at the recent event. We also don't ask for your credit card or any cost unless your gift is a discounted stay at one of the resorts. If you don't want to claim whatever it is you were offered all you have to do is let agent know you decline & you would never be called again in relation to the form you filled out. If you do accept it you will have a wonderful experience & receive whatever you we're promised whether you purchase anything or not. The only obligation anyone has when receiving the ******* gift cards, vacation cert ext. is to claim at nearest resort at their open house. They will introduce you to there exciting vacation ownership programs but regardless of any interest you are guarantied to receive whatever it is you were promised . When you schedule an appt. ** ***** or one of the agents would send you everything in writing via email. Let us know if there's still any more concerns. Thank-you for reaching out to us.

      Complaint: ********

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because: when you claim to be giving away ****** giftcards at one event, travel at another, and a car at another event, this seems very sketchy. And even worse, EVERYONE that fills out the raffle “wins” which is also very sketchy. Then to top it off, to claim your “prize” which isn’t even the prize you entered a raffle for, you have to go to a resort and listen to a presentation. You are not being honest with people no matter how you present this. And there are pages and pages of complaints on the internet about your company. All you have to do is google yourself and you can read those for yourself. While I am happy that you finally stopped calling all of us, it is very easy to tell the nature of your business and you are misrepresenting yourself at these large events where you know people are entering a ton of raffles at once. Apparently this is allowed however it is very shady and you are misrepresenting what you are doing.

      Sincerely,

I attended the Family & Kids Expo at the Orlando Convention Center on Aug. 12th, 2023. There were many vendors in attendance and one of the attendees was a travel agency that was doing a raffle. I received a call on Aug. 23rd, 2023 claiming I won an 8 day/7 nights hotel stay. I was told if I attended a seminar for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 mins I would qualify for an additional 3days/2night stay at any Holiday hotel in the state of FL, $25 prepaid visa and 2 additional guest on my hotel stays. I arrived at the location for the seminar and was informed it was a seminar for well over 2 hours, I would need a major credit card to confirm that the I.D. I presented was actually me and that I needed to sign a legal waiver to which they could not provide a copy of. When I informed the staff I was unable to stay length of time due to being told it was only supposed to be 1 hr to 1 hr and 15 mins that I will go ahead and collect the information for the guaranteed 8 day/7night stay and I will pass on the 3day/2night stay, $25 prepaid visa and 2 additional guest. The front desk got the attention of the manager who browsed briefly over the email I was sent that had all the information listed she then tried to exit out of the email into my personal emails. When I informed her she had no rights to go through my phone she proceeded to tell me she was going to email it to her email without my consent. I told her she was more then welcome to read through the email to verify everything I told her but that she did not have permission to decide what to do with my personal property. At that point when my partner mentioned it was a scam the manager said yes it was and she refused to provide the information for the 8 day/ 7 nights due to the offer being offered through a 3rd party (the company that sent me to them). I am baffled that the Orlando Convention Center would host the Family & Kids Expo which allowed a vendor to be present that would be misleading families. I am reaching out to see if this is a case you would be able to assist me with or if you have a referral you could provide me. Thank you.
