02/28/22 date of service went in for a routine eye exam and nothing else. agreed to pay the 25.00 for a measurement of my eye?? another added charge gave them my eye med. card for the coverage of a routine exam -- i specifically went to this office for this eye exam. coded and charged my cigna / health insur. coverage for a diagnostic medical condition (which i already knew and have knowledge of for 15yrs). i also specifically questioned the DR at the time of exam - and he gave me NO reason other than this what we have concluded. I explained that i use eye drops - he didn't care - they just invoice to insurance companies higher than the requested reason for the visit. I also have been using readers for 20+yrs which i also told them. This is fraud - ripping customers / patients off for the benefit of higher coverage from insurance company - and more money out of the patients pockets. i requested several times they recode and rebill the eye med. coverage. Now i am in this dispute of owing them 161.66 for services i did not request! i was very clear and very proactive in regards to the reason for my scheduled visit and services. they do not care and will charge off my invoice and send to collections. seems like a common practice for this office since they do not work or manage this outstanding invoice in any reasonable and fair way. i will not pay them the invoice and they can rebill and get the credit that is due based on requested and scheduled services from me. thank you

      Business response

      12/05/2022

      Good morning,

In response to the complaint against us from ****** *********

This patient came to our office for an eye exan, on which we cannot quote a cost in advance, as like any other doctors visit we cannnot predict the diagnosis for the exam especcially for a new patient.

Miss ***** ******** came in with a medical complaint, which Dr. K***** addressed during the exam and he also found another medical diagnosis. Per insurance guidlines we do have to bill any exam with medical findings to the patients Health Insurance insread of Vision Insurance, as Vision Insurance does normally only cover routine exams without medical findings. We cannot choose which insurance to bill, it depends on the medical coding. In no way did the patient notify us that her Vision Insurance has any medical coverage.

We did send ***** 5 statements (04/07/2022, 05/31/2022, 07/05/2022, 07/29/2022 ans on 08/31/2022 and the account was send to our Collections Agency  in October of 2022.

****** called our office on 10/27/2022 to dispute these charges and informed us that she will contact BBB of NH. We do not have any records that she contacted our office before that point to dispute these charges, even with 5 statements mailed to her.

We pulled her account from our collections agency and submitted her exam with the medical coding to her Vision Insurance. Once we get payment/denial we do have to rebill *****. I do understand that she did not come into our office asking for a medical diagnosis, but her chief complaints and the findings during the exam required the exam to be billed medical.

      Thank you!
