This complaint involves dental visits to specialist, Dr. Michael H**** on 5/18, 6/24 and 7/13/2021. My first visit with Dr. H**** was all about his collecting his $850 consultation fee PRIOR to commencing with my case. During the second two visits, Dr. H**** took pictures of my teeth and examined them briefly. In addition to working on three teeth giving me problems, he also wanted to replace two crowns done by my regular dentist because he felt the color was off. I told him that the color of the extra two teeth didn't bother me and he said that "it should". We had a discussion about tooth color where I defended my dentist's choices. His opinions differed and he ended up closing his file and DISMISSING me by saying that he thought I should go back to my regular dentist for the work. Later, I decided to go to him and he now refuses to treat me saying I walked out on HIM, which was a lie. He claims we are not a good fit. He will not return my $850, yet he refuses to treat me.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/09/05) */ **** ****** did come into the office for a new patient consult on 5/18/21. It was agreed upon moving forward with a "Work-Up" which includes a comprehensive exam, diagnosis casts (mounted), photos, possibly some additional x-rays if needed and the three hours of clinical/work up time with ****. This work up is a cost of $850.00 in which the patient agreed to pay for the future appointment that was scheduled for 6/24/21. At the 6/24 appt the patient decided not to have all of the work up done and just wanted the money to be applied to her referring dentist for her to do the work that Dr H**** would recommend. The patient did not follow thru with the original agreed upon arrangements. When the patient came in for her Review of Findings appointment only the photos could be reviewed as the patient had refused to have the full work up done at the prior appointment. After much discussion about the different scenarios **** seemed to not be satisfied with the answers to the questions being asked. Towards the end of this one hour appointment **** suddenly stood up and walked out of the office. Dr H**** spoke with the referring dentist and advised her of the case and last appointment. On 08/16/21 **** called and spoke with Maureen to schedule treatment with Dr H****. After Maureen discussed with Dr H**** the decision to not treat the patient was still in place. Dr H**** called and spoke with the referring dentist again and she had forgotten that Dr H**** was not going to be working with **** ****** as a patient. She apologized for her forgetting about that particular detail. On 08/18/21 **** called back again and spoke to Maureen and Maureen mentioned that she had discussed the refund with Dr H**** and Maureen advised her that they already had had this conversation. On 9/1/21 Dr H**** made the decision to refund the patient her $850.00 so that she can use it to go to another office for a consult and workup. The refund check was mailed out via USPS to the address on record. **** also confirmed the address via a phone message. The patient file is now inactivated.
