              We encountered an incredibly hostile and aggressive member at Hampshire Hills Athletic Club (Milford, NH) for an adaptive swim session last week. There was bully behavior towards my 6 year old disabled son that was very clearly struggling. There was an altercation and strong words said by me. After snapping his fingers in my son’s face, he said “give me my jacket” I then took his windbreaker and threw it to the side of him so he would have to pick it up. When the incident was brought to management to have this member held accountable for his behavior, management sidestepped and I was gaslighted. ?I believe this person is too *important* ?to have his membership be suspended or revoked. It is not a family friendly environment. It is not an inclusive environment towards folks with disabilities. Retaining members and not rocking the boat is more important than enforcing member conduct and holding members accountable. ?

              Hampshire Hills GM McKinley S******* contacted the member in question after the incident was reported. That individual was told we would not tolerate actions like his and anyone who does not follow our code of conduct is going to be asked not to return to the club. He then canceled his membership and is no longer a member here. We should also not the following from the GM's report: "I am disappointed all around with the series of events from Sunday. There are two vast different sides of the story but I reviewed the film and it seems like both parties could have acted more appropriately and tapped into staff to avoid confrontation. Please inform Shelly that moving forward we will not tolerate inappropriate language and throwing of personal items. We will handle both scenarios individually but anyone who does not follow our code of conduct is going to be asked not to return to the club." Shelly was informed of such. She opted to ask for a refund for the Adaptive Swim class and that refund has been processed.
