During Meineke service appointment in ********, ************* on 5/31/24 vehicle was improperly lifted or handled resulting in undercarriage damage.Vehicle is a 1993 Chevrolet Corvette in pristine condition. This car has specific requirements from the manufacturer to safely jack or raise the vehicle. There are very specific locations marked on the car where appropriate jacks or lift devices must be applied to prevent damage. These markings are very visible. The auto business did not follow this requirement and told me they had jacked it in other areas.When I made the initial appointment I brought attention to and asked if they would have any problems raising the Corvette for service. I mentioned my concern of the car and its fiberglass construction. **** (manager) assured me that it would be no problem at all.They were not able to diagnose the brake problem and spent approximately 40 minutes to apparently check that the wheels turned freely. When leaving they did not provide a service record or any appointment record.I contacted the business regarding the damage but the managers would not discuss the incident. They told me that I would need to speak to their supervisor to discuss but he was only available during a specific day and time. This individual was the owner, *************************. I was told that the photos I had taken was all he would need but have to come there to meet him in person. The owner was very uncooperative and although I asked about his insurance, he refused to tell me any information and said he would not contact them.After this I contacted my insurance company, explained the incident, circumstances, and filed a claim. The company investigated the incident and inspected the damage. They denied the claim saying that because Meineke had damaged the vehicle during service, Meineke was responsible. They also provided a report (attached) determining and stating the vehicle: Damage consistent with improper lifting with hoist arms.
