Purchased my car 10/2/2023 for $24,194. On my way home from the dealership after I bought it the check oil light came right on. The tires just passed inspection so I needed to buy tires before the winter. I had also noticed a crack on the windshield. I had called after and made them aware of all these issues the day I bought my car. Around the end of October I had started smelling a weird smell almost like spilt coffee. I emptied out my car and completely cleaned it. The smell was still there but I didnt know what it would have been.A couple weeks go by and the whole passenger side of my cars electrical stopped working. I called to make an appointment at the ********** dealership. As it got colder outside, the inside of my windshield and the inside of the sunroof would be a complete sheet of ice. I didnt think that was normal. I told the dealership of that problem when I brought it in to get checked why the electrical wasnt working.I brought my car into a ********** dealership on January 27th.They told me I would need a new door harness, which was covered by warranty thankfully, but they would need to order it and have me go back. They also found that the passenger back sunroof drain was clogged and all the water that wasnt draining out of the car ended up going inside of my car. There is a huge water stain on the ceiling and they said the carpets and foam insulation under the carpets is wet and moldy and needs to be replaced. They gave me an estimate of $1,200 to replace what needs to get replaced. I dont feel this should be an expense I have to pay as the dealership I bought the car from should have made sure the drains werent clogged with 6+ inches of dirt and leaves.I brought my car to a trusted car detailer to get a second opinion on it. He also told me that everything would need to be replaced as there is mold growing. I have been contacting the dealership frequently since I was informed about mold growth in my car. It has started to affect my health.Business response

Hello
Attached are two forms one of which declines any additional protections on her ********** Tiguan and the other which shows the original tire measurements. The tires on the Tiguan were 5/32 and 6/32. For reference state inspection standards are 2/32. The tires were over double state inspection standards when she purchased the Tiguan. The ********** was under factory warranty during a portion of her ownership and from reading the complaint these issues were resolved by ********** at no cost to the customer. Addressing Sydney last complaint if there were a water leak/ plugged drains at the sale we would have identified it during our used car inspection. Drain plugs can get clogged by something as simply parking under a tree or in a wooded area which lets in debris. The drain plugs being clogged is not the fault of the dealership and happened during her 6+ months of ownership.
Thank you

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because:The drain was in fact NOT checked out by the dealership before the vehicle was sold to me. I park in a garage and when I go to work I am not even parked close to any trees. The drain plugs should have been checked and I was told when I brought it into the ********** dealership that there is no way you guys made sure they were clean due to the 6+ inches of buildup that caused the clogging.
Sincerely,

Hello
If the drain plugs were in-fact clogged when the vehicle was purchased there would have been water damage while it was on the lot which there was not. We can clean out drain plugs for under $200 dollars. It takes .3-1.5 hours **** We would happily clean them for the customer. This is not the fault of the selling dealership but we are willing to assist
Thank you

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because: The drain plugs have already been cleaned out When I called the dealership with this problem and finally talked to *****, the service manager, after many ignored calls he told me that they did not clean the drain plugs and wouldnt have before selling the vehicle. The problem that I need resolved is the fact there is mold growing in the back passenger side carpet and the foam insulation underneath. I park my car in the garage and I have a work from home job so if my car is ever outside, it isnt for long. The drains to the sunroof would not have gotten 6+ inches of buildup since I have owned the vehicle. If you dont want to fix this $1,200 problem then I want what I paid you for my car back so I can take my business elsewhere.Sincerely,

Went to have my car inspected and was told that the air bag light is the reason why it failed. I stated that I have owned the car for 7 years with the air bag light on. Other dealers ever had an issue. Was told that it's up to the inspector to make the call. Since this is my first time there, it is clear that they were simply trying to take advantage of a person with a disability. I demand they refund me the $45 fee.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/09/14) */ On 09/02/2021 Mr. ******** brought his vehicle in for a New Hampshire state inspection. Also at that time we performed NHTSA 16V-668 occupant restraint controller replacement safety recall. During the Safety inspection it was noted that the ABS warning light was on and according to N.H. state inspection law # RSA 21-P:14 if that warning lamp on it fails inspection. The air bag lamp being on will not fail inspection and I believe that is where the misunderstanding between the two lamps that were on to cause inpection failure. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/09/15) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) That was not what I was told. Inspector said it was due to the Airbag light and my front breaks. I replied the brakes were already looked at and were fine. The inspector said "no they are rusted and thus need to be replaced". Hence I did just that! Now it sounds like I spent $ for new brakes I didn't need. I want a refund of the $45 and will be filing an additional complaint with the NH Inspection Board. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2021/09/16) */ I have contacted the customer via e-mail and explained that we still stand behind the inspection report. That being said We will reimburse the $45.00 for the inspection. Consumer Response /* (2000, 11, 2021/09/16) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
