Dropped off a Laptop that stopped working last week of Sep 2021. They diagnosed that it needed a new motherboard. I deposited $450 (on 9/29) for them to order a new one. They ordered the wrong part, and said they would order another. The second one did not work either and they said they would order a third, but it would take month, I opted to give up at this point. I also dropped off an old external hard drive to have data extracted. I also dropped off a brand new HD to have files transferred from my laptop and old HD. I was then told they are unable to extract any data from my old HD but that I would be able tot pick up the new HD with the files from my laptop. My husband picked up my HD and was told they needed more time to reassemble my broken laptop (which was at the owner's shop/house in a different city) and they would be unable to issue the refund without my actual presence. (red flag?) I'm not sure why they could not issue a refund through the software they use to charge cards? (note: I was owed a refund because the funds I had paid them more than covered the labor of "repairing" and extracting data which led to no results.) I was informed at some point (maybe Dec) that my laptop was ready for pick up. But as this was around the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years holiday period, and they wanted my presence to issue the refund, several weeks went by before I was finally able to reach out to make an appointment to finally pick up my laptop. I was informed via voicemail that they had discarded my property and since they held my things for more than 60 days it was considered abandoned and that I would lose my refund. NEVER was this time period disclosed to me, nor was a phone call nor written notice issued that I only had a limited amount of time to pick up my things and receive my refund, The dollar amount of the actual work done that I would be charged for was also never disclosed to me. Nothing was repaired, my files are lost, and now my property is gone.
