I tried to cancel my membership as it states you have to. I sent multiple letters canceling my membership starting back in February. They not only won't cancel my membership but are taking multiple payments out of my account. I tried calling corporate and my exact location and no one answers or gets back to you. I can not drive to the location because I am not allowed to drive due to passing out spells and the person that I joined with broke their back so they can no longer drive there. Don't trust this company because they say you matter and you can quite if you want and then refuse to acknowledge that happening.Review from Bryan W

I was very mis informed when I joined it was $3,00 down and first payment not to come out until May 17th instead it came out April 17th putting me in the negative and so I went to cancel my member ship and the snobby manager ******* gives me attitude the entire time telling me you should have read what you signed with no compassion for me that I am out $25 this not ok given that I just joined on Sunday and I feel they should refund meReview from Shivam S

The business main moto is exceptional customer service and no judgment gym. I felt today while I asked for hydro massage that I have been racially profile for one of the front desk member. His name is ****** and I asked him Could you please turn on the one of the flat beds his response was this is not how you say it. You should say please turn on ********* massage chair. I felt so miserable and racial abused that I dont belong here. I dont want to continue where I am being judged or racism is present. Hi everyone, I saw your ad on ******** and I am interested in signing up. Unfortunately, there appears to be a discrepancy between the ******** ad and the website regarding the enrollment fee. The ad states a $0 enrollment fee, while the website indicates a $13.37 fee. This situation seems unfair and unprofessional because it provides conflicting and misleading information to customers. Could you please explain what is happening? To gain clarification, I called your Merivale location and initially spoke with a staff member who mentioned a $1 fee. However, she later stated that $13.37 is for "Pro" fees. When I checked online, there was no mention of a pro-rated fee; it was clearly indicated as an enrollment fee. I have attached pictures that I took today, June 5, 2023, along with your promo for the Black Card, which is valid until June 14, 2023. I sent these to the ** Merivale location via email. Unfortunately, the staff member did not seem to grasp the specific issue and instead attempted to cover up the mistakes. The actual amount is not the main concern; the problem lies with the incorrect and deceptive promotional tactics. All I am looking for is a promotion that does not involve an enrollment fee. Your hidden "pro" fee was not mentioned on your promo flyer or website, which raises questions about the legitimacy of this offering. I have been a black card member until today May 19th 2023. I have gone to more than one planet fitness location and have never had problems like this before but I will never put myself through this again. When I checked in I put my belongings inside a locker to go get something to eat. When I came back at about 11:00 a.m. the general manager told me I was not allowed to be there because I was "loitering", despite paying for a premium black card membership. He accused me of walking in and out of the building, telling me I was not exercising and that I had to leave. He said I am not allowed to store my items in definitely even though I had only been there for about an hour or two. There are clear signage in the building saying you are not allowed to store your items there overnight, which I most certainly have not and have never done at this or any other location. I retrieved my belongings from the locker and asked to cancel my account immediately. I asked for a corporate office telephone number which he insisted did not exist despite finding said corporate office number after a quick Google search. He provided me an email that was clearly not related to planet fitness because it had a Bandera Texas email address. While it is true that I am homeless, I do work full time. I am just using the gym to escape the oppressive Texas heat as well as shower and Access Wi-Fi so that I can find resources to get out of the grim situation I find myself in. I do not bother the other customers, I do not ask for money or food or anything of that nature. I mind my own business and use my cell phone to access the Wi-Fi. I have done this at several other locations throughout San Antonio and have been very transparent about my situation. They are more than aware that I am homeless but employed full time and not once has any other location given me grief. I will never do business with this or any other planet fitness ever again. I joined Planet Fitness 6/20/2022 and was charged $31.03 startup fee, $9.50 prorated dues, and beginning 7/17/2022 $10.70 dues. The agreement for use of the club was that the gym and equipment were kept clean to ensure a safe environment. When I began to use the gym, I found that many people did not clean equipment after use. Several carried their dirty towels from equipment to equipment. CDC guidelines were not kept at the facility as I was led to believe. I spoke to one of the staff members regarding a person using the same equipment that I was using who was not cleaning the equipment and was told he would speak to her, but he never did. So, on 8/1/2022, I went to the desk to cancel my membership, and I was charged $41.73 to cancel. I attempted to dispute this matter with a manager whose email address I was given, and my email was blocked. I returned to the club and spoke to the manager at the club about being charged this fee to cancel and my reasons for canceling. Her only response was that "they can't police everyone in the place". Yet, when I was there three staff members stood behind the reception desk socializing with each other. I'm sure one of them could have taken a few minutes to walk around and "police" the area. I found on 8/17/2022 a Planet Fitness dues fee was still being deducted from my checking account. When I called and spoke to the manager, I was told I would have to pay a buyout fee to cancel my membership. This is a total scam.Planet Fitness - Taymax Owned Response

My name is ****** ***** I just signed up on July 7th online as recommended by one of the employees over the phone at my local gym, upon signing up I was told that I would be paying $8 and some change for my first month, only to discover that a week and a half later that my BANK ACCOUNT would be OVERDRAWN!! Because I was charged for my first month on the 17th of the same month I signed up. I feel like the way that this was handled was very misleading because if I had come into the gym I could have been verbally told that my next payment was going to be due 10 days later and then had the option to wait to join the gym on or after the 17th. I feel like you guys recommend that people sign up online for that reason because most people would have $25 in their account and not even catch that they were charged even though they were under the assumption that they weren't going to pay until the following month. I spoke to one of the gym employees about this they said they recommend us to be able to go online because some people don't want to come into the gym and talk well why wouldn't they want to come into the gym and talk if they're going to actually come in and work out and wouldn't it be a better experience for somebody to come into the gym? Gas prices along with food at an all-time high and people barely being able to find baby formula you really should consider changing your practices because this is very misleadingI haven't even got to go to your gym yet and I'm already very disappointed and you've left a bad taste in my mouth because you guys could get the same money by treating people right and being transparent. Your deceptive practices are very intentional but subtle and I think it's outrageous what you guys are doing to the American people during such hard times. Two employees targeted and harassed me and my disabled daughter (she is autistic) when we went (we used to go late at night as there are less people and my daughter was more comfortable). Women and disabled folks are not safe at night at this gym. I stopped going, reported the behavior, and it was investigated. The female employee no longer works there but the predatory male employee still does. I was actually asked to change the hours I come to the gym (to accommodate the predator). Despite all of this, this gym continued to try to take gym fees from my bank account despite the circumstances and me being told they would not. I had so many overdraft fees from them it nearly ruined my bank account. I am still waiting for reimbursement the Director that told me he would resolve things disappeared and I am still out the money I needed to take care of my daughter and she is still traumatized..Planet Fitness - Taymax Owned Response
