On 04/23/22 I brought a broken $300 gold anklet to be evaluated for repair. The woman at the counter examined the anklet and stated that it would need to be lasered and should most definitely not be soldered. She stated the Jeweler who does the repairs would be there in an hour so she created a repair slip and stated they would call me for approval before any repair work was performed. About an hour and a half later, I received a phone call stating the anklet was ready for pick up. I never received a phone call for approval to go forward with repair. When I returned to the Jewelry Doctor to pick up the anklet, a man (owner) behind the counter stated "the repair did not come out too good" before he even showed me the anklet. The repair looked terrible and very noticeable and the anklet was more damaged after the repair. He soldered the anklet instead of using laser after we were specially told by his company that it should NOT be soldered. Furthermore, they never requested my approval to go forward with any repair. He stated that the repair cost is $45.00. I told him the repair was unacceptable and I never approved for any repair to be done and I refused to pay. I also asked him to pay the cost of the anklet because he ruined it beyond repair. He said he made a mistake and should not have soldered it and he is not paying me anything. He said just take the anklet and leave. Now the anklet cannot be repaired. If the soldered part is cut and then the anklet lasered back together, it would be too short to wear. I am requesting that the Jewelry Doctor pay for the cost of the anklet, which is $300.00.
