In August of 2022, we reached out to Lakeside Masonry LLC, owner Jeff H*****, to give us a quote to finish a brick chimney that had been started by another mason who left the job. Jeff gave us a quote via email. The quote indicated that half the cost, $1,500.00 be the deposit up front with the remaining amount of $1,500.00 at the completion of the job. The quoted amount was for the owner to provide ALL material for the job on site. All the material was provided and on site for Jeff to begin. We provided Jeff with a check deposit for the amount of $1,500.00. Over the next several months we got excuse after excuse as to when he could start, weather played a factor with his excuses and having no laborer was always an excuse. I offered to help by sending material up to him and I even assisted one day in doing this for him. Jeff would show up here and there over the course of several months sometimes working two hours sometimes stopping in to look at the job then leaving again. Most of the excuses had to do with no laborer to help him with material. Jeff hired a carpenter to cut out our roof soffit for the chimney which took four hours. That same day he texted me requesting $500.00 to pay the carpenter. When I saw the work done, the cut roof soffit was not blocked in or water shielded. Over the next month I requested that this be completed. Again, I was met by excuses of weather, no help and days that he would work but never show up. Just recently there had been several weeks of good weather and I offered to assist with the work, but I was again met by excuses of not being able to work those days and he had a helper starting on another day. Recently I was told this will take six to seven more days to complete and he needed to be done by Nov. 7 for another job. Jeff again requested $500.00 and that he NEEDED the money. Jeff came and worked his last day, blocked in the soffit, laid some brick. He requested more money. Jobs not done.
