            **** sent his roofer to look at my roof. The roofer and I talked for several minutes about minor repairs such as critter entrances, and replacing shingles damaged by tree branches.The roofer said he could do the repairs and would send a quote for such. Then **** declared (without ever looking at my roof himself), that my roof was too brittle to repair and I was given a quote for an entire new roof!The roof is old but it's not brittle as **** said (recall he never inspected it himself), and to the exact opposite conclusion of the guy who would actually be doing the work. Furthermore, I bought the house a year ago and the roof passed inspection so both the bank and insurance company are satisfied that the roof is not brittle.I explained all this to **** and his response was "that's what we concluded" so they will only take my job if I pay them to replace a roof that doesn't need replacing.

            The roofer never gave **************************** for a repair. Just said it was possible to do. The houses are 30 years old at ****************. Of course the shingles are brittle. And the plywood is deteriorated because the developer did not use ice and water protection at the *****.***** has replaced eight roofs in that development. He has 20 years experience in roofing and myself with 50 years experience in home improvement industry. Decided that we didn't want to do a repair on such an old roof. He would only warrant it if it was a roof replacement. ***** gave ****** an estimate that was in line with the pricing of other roofs that he did in the development.
