I took my two kittens in for their rabies and distemper vaccinations on 6/24/23 and was charged $353.46. Then I took them for their 2nd distemper booster on 7/16/23 and I was charged for two office visits; one per kitten! I don't agree with this at all considering my bill, this time, was $453.78! I've been a client with this veterinarian since the early 90's and I can't even wrap my mind around how badly they price ***** now. I get that we're experiencing inflation throughout the entire country at the moment and I realize, because of the way their computer system is set up, they have to book separate appointments for each animal but come on! I'm getting gouged for two office visits as well??? If someone brings, say, a litter of 6 puppies or kittens in for their shots, do they charge for 6 office visits? Because, honestly, they should be ashamed of themselves if they do! If that isn't the very definition of extortion I don't know what is. Every time I go into this office, anymore, the prices just keep jumping up. And they don't notify you if they're increasing the office visit rates. I don't think I've ever received any notification from them regarding office visit increases. It seems they like to tell you when you're checking out and settling your bill; when you have no choice but to pay it. Of course, I'm fully aware I have the option to change vets but Absecon is very close to my house, it's a fully equipped animal hospital and frankly, I hate the idea of stressing my animals with a longer car ride than necessary. With that said, it's sad this practice has become more about how much they can make/sell vs. the quality of care they provide. This is not any reflection on some of their veterinarians, mind you. They do still employ a few that are wonderful but the problem with this is it's very hard to get an appt with one of the more seasoned/preferred vets unless you are booking well in advance. It's not a good system.
