My name is ******* ******** and I am requesting to file a new complaint against a rental company by the name Oakden suites in Orange Loop, B3. I booked a stay in Atlantic City with them on June 20 for three nights from June 21 to the 24th. It was a nonrefundable stay booked through *******.***. When I booked it , the amenities clearly show free parking. below is a screenshot of the listing showing the free parking amenity.
AFTER it was booked, the confirmation email shows it very differently.I hope you can read it. I had to reduce the size so you could see the whole page, but I did make a larger copy of the two parking references below (By the way, there is no street nearby with out meters and the general area felt very unsafe) when I got down to the shore the next day, open my email, and saw this, I was very upset . I sent a written email to the building through *******.*** around 1 o’clock on June 21.I requested to know where the free parking was as they listed in the original *******. I got no written response so I called them again at 2:42 in the afternoon requesting someone call me back concerning the parking issue. At 2:49 PM I finally received a call back from a woman and she said she was not sure ,and would check into it and call me back in a few minutes. I still had not heard back from her by the time I got to the building and I called back and left voicemails at 4:36 pm and 4:41 PM requesting a call back as soon as possible since I was waiting near the building for parking information before I entered the building. Finally at 4:46 woman named ******* from the rental property called me back and informed me that there is no free parking area and proceeded to explain to me that the street parking is how it was listed and unless you park in the neighborhood, it’s paid parking. I told her was falsely advertisement because it was listed in the ******* information as FREE and there was no disclosure prior to the *******. There is no free street parking or residential area in close proximity to the building, only chain-link fenced-in parking lots that are vacant or are only available to casino employees . I asked them if they would pay for parking in the nearest casino lot ,since they were falsely advertising free parking ,but they declined. I then requested a refund and she declined.
The only other parking that is available near the building is on one side of the street and it is all paid metered parking from 8 AM to 11 pm .I am well aware that parking is at a premium when you go to shore destinations in the summer and I would have NEVER booked this rental if that was not part of the agreement. I feel that they did not disclose the true parking situation until after the ******* was completed therefore giving you no option of canceling when it’s a nonrefundable stay. Any parking in this location would’ve been inconvenient and expensive.
I contacted *******.*** immediately to cancel the reservation and inform them of what transpired. I was put on hold, and then the agent came back on and said. He tried to contact the rental agency and was not able to reach them. (In their confirmation letter Oakden also said they were available 24/7, which did not seem to be the case when numerous attempts were made by me and *******.com to contact them concerning this issue). The person I spoke to at *******.*** said he would try again later to take care of the situation… I called them again a few days later since I saw no notice of any cancellation or refund.They said they still hadn’t heard back from Oakden but they would try again. The following day I got an email that basically said they spoke to the rental agency and were told that the parking was clearly stated and would not be providing any refund . *******.***. proceeded to say that they were sorry but, there’s nothing else they can do, and that I would need to contact the rental property directly for any chance of a refund. I did not bother since they already told me they would not refund my money. below is part of the correspondence from *******.***.
I am requesting a full refund of $696.00 from Oakden suites since they were falsely advertising free parking and would not make any accommodations for the lack of it . Below is a copy of my receipt.
