I took my bird in to get groomed and nails clipped and came back perfect. The feathers were trimmed properly and her nails looked great. Since being home the bird is more active and playful to the other birds we have. Not sure what happened with the other reviewer but we had only success. We did not hover over the process but left her for a few days. I recommend this shop. It's priced fair and service is great. You expect a pet store to be some what dirty. It isn't filthy and definitely not something that turned us away. The store clerk offered us a drink and fair pricing. Do not worry, they know what they are doingGarden State Pet Center, LLC Response

This place is dirty and groomers injured my bird. I took my birds in for a simple nail trim. The groomer seemed confident so I was gonna let them attempts to tip my birds nails. Please no to Garden State Pet Center ?? please dont ever take your birds to this place. All I needed was my birds nails done. The place was kind of a mess but the groomer sounded confident. It all went South from there. They had two people to groom and the lady who was supposed to hold my jenday let him escape. Unknown to me they had sticky fly traps hung on the ceiling. Why in Gods creation would you hang fly sticky traps in a bird store. I never thought to look and check the ceiling of the store. My bird grabbed a sticky paper and lucky he got loose. Then he settles on a box and I told the employees I will get him my birds will return to me but he was scared. Now instead of them allowing him space to come to me three stupid idiots go in chase of my bird. One had a net. I was up on a ladder trying to get to him but I seen three employees after him. Im not sure if the one hit him with her net and thats how they got him or if he crashed and one the groomer had grabbed him. This was a nightmare. They handed me back a half dead dying bird. Please dont ever go to this store with your birds if you are local. After they handed me a dying bird they blamed me saying I was stressing him out. Who wouldnt be stressed when you hand someone a bird who is limp and looks dead. Please learn from my mistake this place is unsafe and has no knowledge of parrot or bird care. Beware of Garden State Pet Center. Im very liked in the bird community and take very good care of my parrots. They are all trained very well but after my bird got stuck on sticky fly paper they had hanging in the grooming room they expected him to be calm and fly back to me on command. No my bird was just traumatized after ripping itself off sticky paper. This business owner is more of running a bird and animal mill store.Garden State Pet Center, LLC Response

*****, you being in an employee only grooming area will cause additional stress for your birds as noted on our grooming disclosure that grooming is already a stressful time for your bird. In the future you should allow the groomers to do their job without looking over them and causing additional stress. Secondly, the police came in and laughed about how you said we were intentionally trying to murderyour bird. It is also to be noted that you certainly were directed to leave your bird alone as your energy is extremely stressful which is not helping your bird in the situation. We groom many birds and have never encountered this situation, nor have we encountered someone who had such a tense and stressful energy which clearly rubs off on everyone around you including your pets. With any bird you decided to leave your birds flighted and as such I have listed some of the potential dangers of leaving your bird flighted. It's also important to mention you were calling your bird and it was not coming to you it was going further away from you. The staff immediately locked the door, and attempted to get the bird. When the staff reached the front of the store it seems your bird flew into the window and the staff found your bird in a box of samples at the front and picked him up to get him back to his carrier where he couldn't continue to fly and potentially hurt himself further. No one hit the bird with a net as you Stated in this review. Please educate yourself on potential dangers of having flighted birds and also allow groomers to do their jobs without trying to hover over them and create additional stress. Your birds and the people around you feel the stress. Keeping a parrot flighted can be beneficial for its physical and mental health, but it also comes with several risks:1. **Injury**: Flighted parrots can crash into windows, mirrors, ceiling fans, or other obstacles, leading to injuries.2. **Escape**: An open door or window can lead to accidental escapes, with the risk of the bird getting lost, injured, or unable to survive in the wild.3. **Predators**: Both indoors and outdoors, flighted parrots can be vulnerable to attacks from other pets or wild predators.4. **Household Hazards**: Flighted birds can land on hot stoves, open water sources (like toilets or pots of water), or other dangerous areas.5. **Chewing and Destruction**: Flighted parrots have more freedom to chew on furniture, electrical cords, or other household items, which can be destructive and potentially hazardous.6. **Health Issues**: If a bird flies extensively without proper nutrition or conditioning, it might experience fatigue, stress, or health problems.7. **Interaction Challenges**: Flighted birds can be harder to manage, train, and interact with if they have more freedom to fly away or avoid handling. To mitigate these risks, parrot owners can take steps like bird-proofing the home, providing supervised flight time, ensuring windows and mirrors are covered, and training the bird to come when called. Regular veterinary check-*** are also important to monitor the bird's health.
