We're looking for reimbursement of the $40,000, which is a part of the total payments which we made on our $195,000 contract for the house addition work. The work was not completed on time and with acceptable quality. The requested amount represents the work which was paid but not completed, and the work which needs to be redone.We fired them for not making the job on time and with acceptable quality. ******, the contractor, is a nice guy, always smiling to you, agreeing to all what you say, and telling you the things which you want to hear - that the work will be completed fast and with good quality. Nothing of it was happening. The project which was quoted to take ***** weeks is not completed after 15 month. The quality of work is extremely bad. They could not pass building inspections multiple times. Everything they think is either broken, or needs to be fixed. They show up to work for a couple of hours in the afternoon one day, and then they are gone for days or weeks. They come to work unprepared, without necessary instruments. The last thing they did, when cutting a wall in the basement, the lack of dust protection caused the whole house to be contaminated with silicone dust, to such an extent that a fire alarm was triggered on the upper floor. And, after I was repeatedly complaining about agreed work not being completed, the contractor told me: "If I tell you something, it does not mean I promise it."
