      I contacted ****** Vandenberg of Vandenberg Landscaping to do some work on my property. Somehow communication got crossed and his team showed up on my property unannounced and cut down a fig tree that had been on the property for many years. When I contacted ****** to share what happened, he pointed the blame on me and when I asked to pay a discounted rate due to the damages to my property, he became irate. He shouted and cursed at me. Telling me he wasted his time and using terms like "you people". I was very offended by the exchange and my fig tree is now destroyed. Sharing my experience in case it helps someone else.

      This particular customer requested work that my company does not do. I brought over another company that offers services that she requested. The people that performed the service were not employees of mine. They agreed on the scope of work and the price between themselves. She was supposed to pay them directly. My only involvement was to find her someone who could perform the services she requested as my company does not do tree work. When the other company showed up to do the work, she left the premises prior to the work being completed, and did not pay them directly like they agreed upon, When she called me with the complaint, and looking for a discount, I told her I was going to pay the other company the full amount out of my pocket because I have a working relationship with them and did not want to jeopardize that. They performed the service. Plus it was the right thing to do. I did not shout or curse at her. The phrase "you people" was used in the context of people that get work done and look for an excuse to not pay the agreed upon amount. Having been is business for 25 years, unfortunately I have encountered my share those people. And as of today she has not even paid the discounted rate that I agreed to.

      This response is not accurate. We did not agree on a date. The team showed up unannounced. When they arrived, I told them I was not expecting them and I needed to leave. They told me I did not have to stay. I shared that with ****** directly. The reason I did not pay them on site was because I was not expecting them on that day and did not have the cash on hand. I shared that with ****** as well when I shared my experience over the phone. I left a voicemail with similar feedback. There is a voice record. My main reasons for the complaint are the damages done to my tree and the way I was spoken to over the phone. I will remit payment but I will not stand for being accused of lying.
