    I took my new puppy to South Paw and they discovered parasites in stool. After 3 rounds of medication and $1500 later - the vet was continuing to tell me my puppy was sick. She appeared happy and well- was eating well etc. i felt something was not right and did not wast to give her more medication if not needed. The medication was upsetting her stomach. The vet called me 3-4 times a day telling me how serious her illness was and that she needed medication. I decided to take her another vet and had a few stool checks done, and they were all negative. Also my new vet fees were half of what I paid South Paw. I feel cheated and very upset that my pup was probably given medication she did not need. All South Paw lab results were done in-house and were never sent to lab. Beware!!

    Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We appreciate and value input so we can continue to strive to provide the highest quality Veterinary medicine and customer service. However, I feel I need to clarify a few things regarding your review. The amount you stated you paid for ***** testing and medication is not accurate. That amount was for 8 visits, which included vaccinations, food, heartworm prevention, *********** products, grooming, ***** samples, and medications. To save our clients' money, the samples are run in-house, and also by using an antigen test. The samples are read by **************, who has 40 years' experience reading ***** samples and is confident in the result. You never notified us that the deworming medication seemed to be upsetting her stomach. The sample provided was positive at the last appointment, and we offered to send it to our outside lab to verify if the result was parasitic or not. It was also explained to you that parasites shed intermittently, which is why multiple samples are recommended to ensure a negative result. We were concerned that she had been dewormed several times, and was still positive. You were not called 3-4 times a day to tell you how sick your puppy was. It was explained that intestinal parasites left untreated can be detrimental to your puppy. You hadnt given an answer as to whether or not you wanted to verify the ***** sample. That resulted in 2 follow up calls being made, on different days, as ultimately her health was our concern. Its unfortunate you feel cheated, as we would never intentionally give unnecessary medications to a patient.
