On November 1, 2023, I hired this business to do contracting work on my residential home, and I provided the requested deposit on the same day. The check was cashed the next day by the contractor. In our state there is a rescission period of three business days to cancel the contract within which the consumer is entitled to a full refund, and unfortunately, I had to take advantage of this. The law requires me to send a registered letter which I did, but I also called the owner to thank him for his assistance and to let him know that I would be sending a rescission letter. According to the *********** of ******** Affairs, the deposit is required to be refunded in full within thirty days from when the contractor receives notice. It has been over six months as of today (May 21, 2024) and the contractor has failed to refund my money in full despite repeated requests from me. Numerous promises on their part have gone unfulfilled, and ignored. They have consistently failed to communicate with me throughout every stage of this dispute. My most recent contact with the owner was on May ******************************************************** an official date for a final repayment and he assured me that he would do this by the end of last week. I did not receive any contact, and I also emailed the business again on May 19 most recently for information, and this request has gone unanswered. As a remedy, I request that my funds be returned immediately both in accordance with NJ law, and as agreed to by the business owner.
