I met with **** on November 20, 2023 to order a grave marker and granite mounting for my mother and fathers grave. I gave him a deposit of $900.00. **** said it will not be able to be installed until spring since the granite comes from *******. I emailed him in May to inquire about the status. He emailed me back that he was still waiting for the granite. I emailed him again in July and have not gotten an answer. I left several messages and no one returns my phone calls. I see the 800 number is now not in service and in checking the BBB I see many similar complaints. Looks like he has taken off with everyone's money.Initial Complaint

Kurt is super responsive to send a diagram of the memorial you need in order to get your deposit. After you send money, there isn't a response. Below are the timeframes of communication in email. Date of first contact: January 12, 2024 First Memorial diagram received: January 19, 2024 Second Memorial diagram received: January 26, 2024 Order & Deposit date of discussion: January 28, 2024 Check sent: January 29, 2024 Date of Last Contact: January 28, 2024 Check cashed: February 6 2024 Order Amount: $1993, Deposit $750 Last Contact: January 28, 2024. I have opened a case with the ******** NJ Police Department. After reading other BBB reviews this appears to be racketeering and fraud. I signed a contract with Morris Hills Memorials to place a flat stone at my brother's burial site (at the Fairmount Cemetaery in Chatham ) at the site where my parents are buried. They had done the stone for my parents previously. We spoke in December 2023 and January 2024. I sent a deposit check of $500 (about half of the cost) which was cashed in January 2024 alsong with the signed contract and proof of the stone. I emailed them 3/12/24 to get an update- no response I called them 3/14/24-left message on main number-no response I called them 3/19/24- left message on main number- no response 3/29/24- called main number, unable to leave a message; called cell number- left message; also emailed them this day.Have not heard from them since they cashed my check!!Initial Complaint

Spoke with Kurt about creating my brothers grave stone . He requested a deposit for $675.00 in September of 2023 . The check was cashed and he asked me to send $50 a month payments. I then sent him two additional payments of $50.00. He told me it would take a few months to come in. I have left numerous phones calls and emails and have not heard anything from him. I have visited the place and it says that they are out of the office. I just saw a few others that had the same issue .Initial Complaint

It’s officially 1 year to date, and our family still has no idea what is happening with our headstone. Deposit check of $1,400 was promptly cashed with little to zero communication. Once, John & Kurt hook you on a fair price, they get you! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Also, they are known as Chester Memorial out of Chester NJ. Good luck getting a hold of anyone at both locations including Denville, NJ. Offices are always closed with signs be back shortly. It’s a total sham & a shame. Horrific they conduct themselves this way when people are vulnerable.Initial Complaint

Partially paid for my moms headstone. The promise was that is would be available by beginning of spring then he stated at thend of summer lack of communication hurendous and here we are a year and 3 months later and not communicating and no headstone. We have called multiple times and visited the location without any success and no return phone calls. This is a difficult loosing a parent and then deal with this nonsense very frustrating when you call him and no response what so ever sent multiple emails as well an no response.Initial Complaint

In April 2023 i sent a check payable to Morris Hills Memorials for $395.00 to engrave a monument in *********************** Cemetery. I have tried calling, email and had niece stop by to find out when job is to be done, to no avail. They were not at office and my attempts to contact them has gone unanswered. I want my money back since they have not done the work, or have contacted me.Initial Complaint

Met with company to order a grave marker on 7/9/22. After some back and forth about the design, I ordered the marker on 8/23/22, signing the contract and sending a check. I was told it would take approx 6 weeks to get a marker. The check was promptly cashed. I have, since 11/1/22, left numerous voice-mail messages and sent numerous e-mails asking for the status, none have which have been returned (expect for one e-mail on 11/8, where the reply was "I should have an update tomorrow"). I am completely disgusted by any company that takes advantage, but especially one that does so during the worst time in somebody's life - while they are grieving the death of a loved one.Initial Complaint

We hired Morris Hills memorials to etch our fathers name and dates on my parents headstone. It has now been almost 6 months since my father's passing and nothing has been done. They cashed the check my brother gave them. Since then there has been no communication from them. We have tried calling and emailing. No one answers the phone, no answer in email
