On 8/14/23, I contacted Sewer Rat about a clogged kitchen sink in my mother's Condo. I was referred to them by the Condo's Mgmt Company. I left messages and I was contacted the next day. Plumber came to the apartment the same day, 8/15/23. After inspecting the issue, he told us that the pipe is clogged very deep, beyond our apartment's pipes. When asked about the cost of the repair, he stated that there was no charge, as the issue is beyond our apartment. He fixed it and left. We never received an invoice, or any paperwork. We now received a bill from the Condo's Association charging us $671 for that repair. I asked for the copy of the invoice, and it states that the reason for the clogged sink is "grease build up". That is not what we were told on 8/15/23. I contacted both, Condo Association and Sewer Rat and was basically told that I have to pay it. Sewer Rat stated that even though I was the one who contacted them, they work for the Association and that's why they are not obligated to give me a price quote at the time of the repair or to provide me any paperwork on the day of the repair. If I knew the price I could have shopped around. This a misleading business practice, by both- Sewer Rat and the Condo Association. Not only the invoice is false, as no "grease build up" was mention by the plumber, but we get billed 3 months later. I asked to speak to the plumber that performed the work, and I was told they can't do that. I feel as my Mom is being taking advantage off. I would like the invoice to reflect what was said to us by the plumber on 8/15/23- that the issue was with the pipes beyond our apartment.
