  When the **** comes, it shows the 18%, 20% and 22% tips and their respective amounts. Then when they come to charge your credit card with the portable credit card machine at the table, the 18%, 20% and 22% amounts are different. I suspect when the itemized bills calculates the dollar amount of the tip is pre-tax which should be the case as tax is not tip-able. The credit card machine charges your card tips calculated by the total amount of the **** including tax so when you select 18%, thinking you're giving $15 dollar tips because the itemized **** shows 18% tips and the amount shown in dollar is $15, you are charged $17 dollars for the tip!!! This scam should be resolved asap. I emailed Benihana but they didn't respond. Imagine how many customers are being deceived daily!

  I have spot checked receipts and only found tip suggestions were on pre-tax totals.  If I knew what date ************** visited our restaurant I would gladly spot check those receipts as well and providing me with the date and time would greatly help with this task.

  We want to make sure that our customers are getting the correct information from our credit card processing company.

  I am rejecting this response because: the manager is correct the receipt with the itemized entrees and drinks is calculated on the pre tax totals. BUT when the waiter brings the credit card machine to the table to swipe the card, when you select the percentage it uses the total with the tax to charge. I think it's because the waiter enters the amount to charge including the tax instead of entering the amount of food and let the credit card machine calculate the tax. Therefore the credit card machine do not know the tax amount vs total food amount and just uses the amount the waiter entered and calculate the tax on the amount entered. You need to set up the credit card machine to enter food amount and it will calculate the tax and tips. You cannot enter the total amount including the tax and expect the credit card machine to calculate the tips amount.

  As I requested in the past please supply me with the date of your visit to our restaurant so I can check all the receipts for that day to verify what you are claiming and to make necessary adjustments if necessary.  Your prompt response will be greatly appreciated as I was never made aware of this before I received a notice in the mail from the BBB.  I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you and would like to clear this up as soon as possible.
