To BBB Submission Manager:Please see the summary letter below that I sent two times to Stable Energies in ** last summer, but never heard back. This is in addition to lack of responding to multiple email messages. This purchase was a major order by me from this racing shop at approximately $4000 and I am only asking for their acknowledgement that mistakes had been made and for a sincere apology. This behavior is a very poor way to treat a customer in general as well as being an equally poor business practice when the customer has gone to the effort to carefully and technically document the ******s learned. Again, my only goal is an acknowledgement and apology.LETTER SENT TWICE TO STABLE ENERGIES IN ********, **, WTHOUT RESPONSE SUBJECT: REASONS I'M NO LONGER A STABLE ENERGIES CUSTOMER July 11, 2021 To ********************** Business Manager:Stable Energies is a good company with good staff and I have been a customer for a number of years. Even so, Im just one customer and not a major customer, so losing me will not be significant. However, Im a business manager myself and thought that I should offer an explanation. There is an extensive email history on this issue related to my purchase of Recaro Expert Houndstooth seats. I will not repeat all those details, but instead will just give a high-level summary as provided below.Reasons Im No Longer a Customer oYour knowledge of Recaro seats is poor --- The main reason I purchased these seats was to get proper, adjustable lumbar support which I did not have with my Audi A4 *** seats. Several times I asked if the lumbar was adjustable because the Recaro literature referred both to adjustable and paddable lumbar. I was assured it was adjustable, but it is not. I understand that part of the problem is the inconsistent Recaro nomenclature, but SE sales personal should know that difference. Fortunately, the non-adjustable lumbar that came standard in the seats is comfortable without trying to add padding.oYour knowledge of ****************** brackets is poor --- These brackets are supposed to correctly mount the Recaro rails (which they do) and interface with **** A4 seats (which they do not). In fact, the brackets are so general in construction and inaccurate in dimensions, that they should be referred to as universal brackets. After a huge amount of work, I will able to build custom conversion kits, but in hindsight, it would have almost been easier to build the entire brackets myself. I have passed on a description of all the errors to Planted for their future consideration as shown below.oPacking of the seats for shipment was done very carelessly --- For shipping from ** to PA, the original Recaro boxes (which were well designed to protect the seats) were opened and the Planted brackets in their own boxes put directly on the Recaro seat bottom cushions without any extra packaging material. First of all, putting a box with heavy metal parts on a new, expensive Recaro seat is a very poor decision to begin with; then, not adding more packing material is just incompetence. Im a business manager and also an engineering manager who worked for a moving company while going to college, so my criticism of this very poor packing process is based on real world experience of how to do it correctly. However, we were lucky that the damage to the seats was minor due to permanent impressions in the leather from the corners of the Planted boxes pushing into the seats. Most of the impressions recovered and the ones remaining are not noticeable unless you look very closely. Potential major damage was fortunately avoided when a sharp metal edge came through one of the Planted boxes, but went into the side of the Recaro box and not the seat itself. While no significant damage was done, there was no reason for this situation to have occurred at all if your staff had more training. Consequently, I shared this ****** with your staff and expected at least a response of apologizing for this error, but did not hear back at all.Planted Bracket Dimensional Errors for Audi A4 (B5 series) Sedan 1.GUIDE RAIL SPACING --- Distance between the guide rails in the car and the bracket is incorrect. Bracket is too narrow by ~4 mm on each side (8 mm total). This issue can tentatively be resolved by using a longer bolt on each side with 4 mm of extra washers to provide spacing.2.TILT OF BRACKET --- The bracket surface is not level, but instead tilts from front to back (i.e., the rear of the bracket is about an inch lower than the front).3.LOW HEIGHT OF BRACKET --- The bracket is 1.5 to 2 inches lower than the base of the *** car seats. While this minimal height would probably be fine in a small roadster, this bracket is for an A4 sedan and needs to be at approximately the same level as the *** height.4.EXCESSIVELY LONG ARM FOR SEAT BELT CONNECTOR MOUNTING --- While the bracket base is too low as noted in #4, the arm for the seat belt connector is excessively long (but would be closer to being correct if the seat height were proper). The main issue is that the *** mounting moves with the seat, while it stays in place as the seat is adjusted fore and aft on the Planted bracket. The only fix is to shorten the bracket arm or shorten the seat belt connector arm. In its *** orientation, usage of the seat belts would be unsafe. Therefore, I had both *** connector arms shortened and rewelded by a shop with expertise in this area.5.NON-CENTERING OF BRACKET IN CAR FOOTWELL --- The bracket is not centered left to right in the footwell, but instead is shifted toward the center (i.e., if sitting in the passenger seat, it is shifted to the left by about 0.5 inch toward the center console leaving minimal space for the seat cushions and seat belt connector). (Note: It is proper for some shifting to the left in order to clear the map holder in the lower part of the passenger door when the door is closed.)
