I hire his company to build my deck, paid them $19,500 cash to get started. The job total and contract was for $49,500. We got the Trex boards material for the deck, the cost of that was $10,920. They worked for 3 days to demo existing patio which I had a different contract for $4000. After the existing patio was removed they were supposed to level and put down clean blue stone over the area as per contract. They worked one day digging ******************************************* finish 6 of them because they were not 36inches as per architect plan. Owner ************************* **********,email ****************,com said they are not coming back to work claiming to much pressure from us to finish faster. Keep in mind that ***** said to us that everything was going to be finished in 2-3 weeks. He sent me a text explanation on the rest of the money which was ( $6500 for digging the holes in one day 3 workers and $5000 for removing existing patio that he didn't finished, in the same text ***** said that he will return $1500 from the $19500 that I paid him) Its been over 2 weeks and no check from him. For the $4000 contract I paid him $2000 by check. So the total paid to him was $21,500, out of which he did buy the materials for $10,920. I get that he doesn't want to work anymore but he should keep money for the one day of labor and for half the job that he did by removing the existing patio, return the rest. I did text him back and I did tell him if hes not returning my money I will have to get a Lawyer. He said to me (ok lets do that, I'm not talking to you anymore). I tried to resolve this but he wouldn't even talk about it. All I want is some of my money back, I just want what's fair, he should get paid for the one day of labor work and for removing the existing patio, he should keep the $2000 that I paid him not charge me $3000 more with out even finishing the work, charging me one thousand dollars over the contract its not going to look good in court.
