Late January early February, the named company in this complaint was contracted to install a new septic system. However, upon doing the job, the company was informed that the piping from the kitchen sink to the new septic should have been replaced. I dont believe they contacted the engineer. Instead, they replaced the outside pipes. I asked the person who replaced the outside pipes, do the pipes from the kitchen sink to the new pipes need to be replaced? He said no. A few weeks went by before the same nauseous smell came through the kitchen. I called the company I told them that the sink was draining properly. I didnt use the sink for about a week until they came out to find out why the sink wasnt draining. It was fine at that moment but continues to have a nauseous smell. He went on to say that I would have to replace the pipes. No, this is why he was hired. This brings me to my first complaint about the work they didnt do. The company knew these pipes needed to be replaced and they were negligent to find out why the engineer did not include replacing the pipes or they were negligent to tell why the engineer didnt include the pipes. Instead they performed an in complete job by not replacing the pipes in the kitchen. Second, the septic is sticking out of the ground. The workers took a load of dirt from my yard before the job was complete. When I complained, they replaced the dirt they took with dirt that had trash, broken glass, and rocks. They left the old septic in the yard. I had to call the Burlington county inspections to come out to see the bad job they did. To find out, the company lied to her. They said the pile of concrete was a flag pole and they seeded and put hay down. I wasnt aware the company had to put straw and seed down. The company came back out put straw and seed down without cleaning up the filthy dirt they dumped in my yard. They just put it over top of the trash, broken glass, and rocks. I have never seen a septic tank and ***** lines uneven. The septic tank is sticking out of dirt. My neighbors just had the septic replaced and the ground is the same level all the way across. There wasnt any trash or broken glass on their ground. They knocked down an outside light. They did not fix it or put it back up. They just did not care about my property. They left it a mess with the dump trucks.

      Business response

      06/24/2024

As to our response to this complaint our company was contacted by *** of the Pemberton Township Home Improvement Program (*****) to give a price on an approved septic design which we received on 11/28/2023. This design was approve for install by the Burlington County ************ Our company was awarded the job based on that design on or around 12/11/2024 which a description of the work to be done was submitted and the customer was aware of and also signed a contract for the approved work. A site visit was performed around 01/08/2024 at which time we were told by the customer about two drain lines (one for the sink and one for the washer). The customer was told and shown that there was only one line coming out of the dwelling not 3 and was showed the blue prints. The customer stated that they told the engineer. On 01/10/2024 *** from the ***** was emailed about this issue and the engineer was also contacted by phone. A change order to perform the work was approved and signed on 01/11/2024. It should be noted that we are not plumbers and cannot  do any work within a dwelling nor was that part of a bid or request. During construction and excavation concrete was found and was excavated out and put to the side (concrete cannot be buried) (Later on around mid February after the job was completed  the customer did ask how much to remove the concrete and a verbal price was given at $2200.00 nothing was asked at that time) on 01/09/2024 the engineer was contacted by email where a form was filled out for them to perform the excavation inspection and just after that on the 01/10 and sand inspection on 01/12/2024.  A final inspection of the Burlington ************ of ****** was performed on 01/18/2024 and received a pass inspection.

On 02/12/2024 The customer sent and email with pictures pertaining to a pile of concrete, settlement, and a light post. Her email sent and I quote The last picture is the light that must have been knocked over during the process. I am not angry but no one told me that it was knocked over. It is electrical. I dont know what the contract says abut damage but please let me know if this is my end or yours. I did discuss these issues with the customer. As is I stated to her on the description of work that we are not responsible for the concrete, and we would be back in 6 months to regarded. She was not satisfied with that so we dispatched two men and a little topsoil for the back of the dwelling where the two drains were installed. There were no complaints after we left.

Sometime at the end February we were contacted by the customer about poor drainage within her sink. Upon arrival we check the sink an found no issues. The customer ask about getting a plumber to fix the lines drain line under her house (which is slab on grade) and did question about what we connected to. I told her that we can only connect to what is outside the wall and we do not do interior plumbing because we are not license plumbers. She requested a plumber and I did call one we work with and said that is to far for him. She stated she understood and then asked me about the concrete that was left on the job. as I stated earlier. (it should be noted that on our description of work it states and I quote Contractor not responsible for asphalt or concrete replacement or removal).

We received a call sometime in April  (I believe) from ***************************** of the Burlington County ************ about this customer and their complaints. She asked if I could meet her at the property for a meeting and wanted me to bring our contract. We did meet at the property and did discuss the above issues. At this time she had no issues and said she would speak to the customer and it was ok for me to leave. The next day I received a call from ***************************** of the Burlington ************ of ****** (she over sees *****). She ask me is we could go back and reseed the work area and put more straw done. This is also a requirement and was also stated on our description of work (It was the second time we did it)

In conclusion we were contracted to install a septic system, not to install new plumbing within the dwelling regardless of what the customer says. There was a contract and a description of work. We are not negligent to find out why the engineer did not put the additional two drains on the blueprints, we did not hire the engineer, however we did do our due diligent to contact the engineer as we should and to state to (*****) the county inspector that we lied about a flag pool was a pile of concrete is totally uncalled for. Also there was no mention to me form the county board of health about anything we did wrong. I will state that prior to the county board of health coming out I did say that if we did anything wrong please let me know and I will correct it. As to caring, every time this customer called we answered the call and respond to her.  We will honor our description of work that will do our 6 month inspection and perform a pumping of the septic tank one year for install.

      Sincerely
