    SPS - Senior Planning ********, ********** Well it's been a little over a year since we used this company, but we're still upset till day because we feel we were taking advantage of.My mother in law unfortunately had to go into the ********************************* Senior Living place (then The Arbors, nursing home) which is another story for a later time).While she was in the ********************************* Senior Living/The Arbors nursing home, ********** **. ( Who was in partnership with SPS) we were constantly being pressured by them, that she'll be running out of funds soon and will need ******** or she would be asked to leave the senior housing. We were constantly warned many times about her probability of being evicted via phone or meetings. At our first contact with them, we were asked to come in for a meeting which we thought was about her care, however, it was to meet with someone from SPS or representative of SPS, it was about her running out of funds. They advised us, in order for her to stay we would have to apply for ******** ASAP and we needed to use this company SPS. This was around October of 2021. I told them we would apply ourselves and I received the paperwork to fill out and send in. However we kept getting harassed every day by the Senior Living/nursing home and SPS. They said we would have to pay down her money before they could start anything, and wanted $9000 upfront.They kept telling us it takes a long time and they have the resources and connections to get it done quickly and she'll be able to stay. They said if we apply ourselves she won't get approved in time and she will have to leave the Senior Living/The Arbors nursing home. My husband and I were absolutely distraught by this time and caved in. We paid them up front, $9000.00 before anything was done, plus extra for a lawyer they used. Also, when we met them at their office, he went around pulling all the shades down which made us uncomfortable, like a shady deal was going down which should have raised up a red flag (it was the evening no sun was out).I gave them all the info they needed to make this easy on us, but still got phone calls to do their work. They said they take care of everything because they know what to say and do and the holidays are approaching and it would be stress free for us.However, we had to spend down what funds she had left before they could apply for ********.In January 2022, since we still had some money left, nothing was done. At that time we figured by March or April of 2022 she would have have met the criteria and ******** would start, however she passed away that March.I called them and advised she passed away and is it possible to be refunded some of the money since she wasn't able to utilize ********. By the way I never saw any paperwork of what was actually done.Of course what do you think the answer was...you guessed it NO! They claimed they did the work and no refund due.I understand they MAY HAVE done some work, not $9000.00 worth and they should have refunded some of the money since I did most of the work! Never ever give anyone full payment upfront before service are rendered, ****** learned!I find it awful how people take advantage of the elderly and distraught families, and here's my story...and advice, STAY AWAY FROM SPS AND ANY COMPANIES LIKE THEM!! Do yourself a favor and contact an Elder lawyer or start the process yourself.

    Dear BBB,I recently went to an attorney looking for assisance with filing a ******** application. They in conjunction with Senior Planning Services of ********, ** are horrible. They toom $ ********* and each time I ask for an accounting I am ignored. Phone calls to SPS are not returned. SPS keeps sending request s to my financial advisor for balance on my account and this is almost 3 months after I informed them that I no longer wanted to persue this avenue and asked for a refund. I would not recommend this company. It really seems all thery are interested in is taking my money. I feel although doing the filing for medsicaid by myuself would be very time consuming it would be worth it rather than work with people such as Senior Planning Services. Horrible horrible business. And the attorney ,********************, are working in conjunction with them to take my money, but that's a separate issue which I will be dealing with accordingly.
