Purchased a brand new Nikon Z9 Mirrorless camera body from them.They never mentioned at all that the camera was a grey market camera (not supposed to be sold in the *** and doesnt have a manufacturers warranty). If I had known it was a grey market camera, I would have NEVER purchased this camera from them.Very shady. Very unethical business practice.Very disappointed because the $6,000 camera that I purchased isnt covered by *****. I am a member of ****************** Services and they wont accept this camera.Do not purchase from them!!!

I ordered a camera lens and received an email to contact customer service about my order: "Thanks again for your order! We very much appreciate your business with AbesofMaine. Please call us at XXX-XXX-XXXX ext X** We need to confirm your purchase." I replied by email and affirmed that I had ordered the lens. I got a second email asking me to call them. A few days later I got a call to confirm my order, and a warning that I was purchasing an "import item" and that the standard item comes with a warranty, lens caps, case, and lens hood, but that I could purchase the item with a warranty for $300 more. It's deceptive practice to give a customer a shipping date after ordering an item, refuse to send the item without a phone conversation, then up-sell the customer by misleading them into thinking they had ordered some knock-off "import" item. Shame on this company for this practice. On top of that, they will not take back an item without a 10% "restocking fee", Terrible business

I ordered a camera for $1400 online. They proceeded to call me after i submit my order claiming that i filled it out incorrectly. After "correcting" your address, they will then "correct" the price of the item you ordered. Adding in items you didn't order, and changing the price. Even after you tell them no, they just go "Oh well i've added this and this but it's $0 now, but the camera is going to be $1700 and not $1400 as it was advertised. Here is a warranty for 3 years, but that's $0 now too. Here's some batteries that are also $0!"Basically what they do is illegal, and nobody should ever do business with them.

***'s of Maine sold us a grey market Tamron lense. When we contacted ****** they said that they did not have the serial number in their system and it would unfortunately not be under warranty. This business is NOT legit.

I resorted to ordering from **** of Maine when I learned that B&H was not open because of a holiday. I had heard the name **** of Maine--and thinking they were a little, reputable store in Maine--I ordered a camera from their website. It seems like no sooner did I confirm my order online that my phone rang. It was a sales rep from **** of Maine, and he wanted to "confirm my order."The salesman gave me his name, but I later had a theory that the name every saleman from **** of Maine is the same, because I have read that same name by other customers who had written reviews and given their account of a bad experience. The salesman fastalked me and upsold me. In retrospect, I feel that the salesman at **** of Maine are well-versed at this. I felt at the time of the sale that I was in a vulnerable state because I had to be on a plane and on location to shoot with a small production company. One indiction that was a flag to me was that the sales man had an accent--either mid-eastern or ********** or a combination of the two; and I thought that was odd if the store is in Maine, altho, this certainly would not have been a deciding factor to not deal with them based on this alone. After my order was completed, the salesman emailed me a list of the items I had agreed to purchase. Upon reviewing the list however, I thought it was odd that none of the items had a price; there was only a grand total at the bottom. When I inquired about this, the salesman replied that the reason was that he was giving me a deal (discount). Part of the purchase was a warranty that the salesman suggest I purchase. Upon receiving the order, I discovered that a camera card was not the proper size, My overall feeling is partially one of guilt, and partially of being taken advantage of. As customers, we should know what we need and have knowledge about the products, yet I feel that a salesperson repping a business that sells pro gear should be trustworthy and help educate us. Shame!

I called to verify a Nikon lens is available and they told me the lens doesnt come with anything pictured - no lens caps, case or hood. It was an international version and would not be covered by a warranty even though it was brand new. They convinced me to buy the US version for $200 more. I agreed and we used Katapult to place to order on a lease to own finance. At the end of the process, she told me that the order did not go through. But it did go through. It went through and Im currently on lease for a camera and lens I didnt order. When I called back, she stated that it was a ghost order and would go away in 24 hours. Im still sitting here with no confirmation notification from **** and a lease/contract for a canon camera and lens for $2700. When I call Katapult, they state the cancellation process will take 3-5 business days. This was a total scam.

I have been searching for a Fujifilm x100v and after months of no luck I decided I would pay a premium for one (600 over rsvp) I noticed **** had one in stock and I swallowed my pride and made the purchase. Like every other review here, I was called to confirm my purchase. The man on the phone then gave me the whole bait and switch they are apparently known for. Told me it was the import model and I couldnt get the US model in that color but he had an alternative color in the US model for a ~small~ price increase of 800 dollars! At this point there was no way I was about to pay $2800 for a $1400 camera. I immediately asked why it was listed as in stock if they didnt have it in stock and I would like the order cancelled. I was then offered the managers discount of 300 off for not taking the garbage sd cards and lens cleaners. Again I said absolutely not cancel the order. And I was AGAIN offered the super mega managers one time discount for an extra 100 off with NO warranty.At this point I was losing my patience and again told him to cancel the order and I do not want the camera at all, and he hung up on me and I got the email saying it was cancelled. What a garbage company,This business practice should be illegal.Never shop at this scam shop.

This is a bait and switch operation, and is likely illegal.Placed an order online for a camera lens with expedited shipping. The item indicated "in stock". Then received a call from *******, under the guise of confirming my information (although he actually confirmed nothing) stating that the item I ordered would be an import model (not what I selected online, nor what I paid for), but offered me a "deal" for a more expensive, non-import model. I declined, and requested a cancellation. He then said he had to put me on hold to provide a confirmation number but immediately came back and told me he had approval to give me a "deal approved by his manager" for the lens that I had ordered for a mere ~$400 more. I declined. This seems to be their standard practice.
