    On 5/16/22 I called to inquire about exhaust work. I asked about the work they do and the cost for said services. When I asked about the cost to look at the car they explained that there would be no charge as that was would be part of their safety inspection. I then asked about the potential cost to repair once the issue was identified. They explained they do not weld and if it could be fixed with clamp that generally cost around $50 however if it could not be clamped then the price would vary as it would involve replacing parts. During the conversion the representative asked how I knew it was the exhaust, I explained that you could hear it. The exhaust was alot louder. I schedule a drop off appointment. I called back shortly there after to reschedule the appointment due to a scheduling conflict. They assisted in rescheduling the appointment. Up to this point everything was fine.On the day of the appointment. My car was dropped off and they completed their work and sent me a quote. I declined to have the work completed and went in to pick up my care. When picking up my car I was told there was a $60 charge for .5 hours diagnostic. I explained that I was told there would be no charge when making the appointment. The representative explained that because I said their was a noise the diagnostic charge was valid. This is completely conflicting to what I was told over the phone, when I specifically asked about cost. This bait and switch tactic is extremely unethical. I provided all the information that I could before hand to streamline the process. I was completely upfront with all of questions and explanation of the issue to be told there would be no charge for the inspection only to be hit with a diagnostic charge on pick up.

    I paid $881.52 for a diagnotic evaluation & recommended repairs after code lights appeared when I was driving my car. The day of the repairs went well--staff professional, premises very clean, provided a Lyft for me after it became apparent that it would take a number of hours for the repairs. The repairs were spark plugs (tune up) plus replacing a coil. Same codes came back three weeks after the repairs and, as this was within the warranty period, I took my car back to *** Automotive. They did a diagnostic ($110), determined it was the same problem, did not charge me for the diagnostic because it was the same problem and changed the coil but not the spark plug for the affected engine cylinder where codes appeared.. They also told me that if the same problem came back to take my car to a dealer. Within two weeks after their warranty repair, the same codes came back on. I took it elsewhere per what *** had directed where a compression check was done (the engine compression tested fine--no issue) but the spark plug installed by *** was misfiring. I spent $149 elsewhere for the compression check & spark plug. The car has been running fine since the spark plug installed by *** was replaced.I took the *** original $881.52 invoice, the paperwork from the warranty repair and the sales slip for the compression check & spark plug. I anticipated that they would reimburse me for the spark plug that they charged me for plus perhaps the compression check which would not have happened if the diagnostics that they had performed on the vehicle being effective in fixing the problem.Instead, *** gave me a ten dollar coupon toward future service, plus ten dollars off on brake pads, battery purchase, fluid service plus twenty dollars off two tires. There are no tire or brake pad issues with my car and *** installed my battery in 2022. Would have been better if *** just paid for a $39 spark plug plus what they feel the labor to install it should be.
