Used a 3rd party long distance moving company- got stuck with new Jersey transport inc. They met me and emptied my storage unit to be moved. 5' x 10' storage. 400 cu.ft. Storage unit was not even full. Now said moving company is charging us for 520 cu.ft. How?!?!! We did not add anything. They did not pick up any big furniture. No awkward packages. So why are we being charged for 120 cu.ft. of stuff that doesn't exist?! Messages have been left to speak with the company, no calls returned. No person ever answers. But they called today wanting ALL money so they can deliver stuff tomorrow. They didn't pack up a house. We didn't drop stuff off to add to delivery. They opened ONE storage unit that was MAYBE 85% FULL. so charge for the full 400 cu.ft. but there is no way I'm paying for stuff that does not exist.

My husband booked a mover. The appraiser came to the house looked at what was to be moved and gave him an estimate of 842 cubic feet going to **********. My husband passed away & I took over, I took most of what he had said he was taking with a few things added & a few things taken away. My move was much closer ************, ** but I was told the price was the same. I was under a time crunch so I reluctantly accepted. The day of the move came, the movers said that the load was over by 458 cubic feet. I again agreed because I didn't know what else to do. I had to keep calling the company to find out when they were going to deliver my goods. Finally they said they were coming on Thursday 2/23. My things were going into a storage unit. I waited and then got a call they were having a problem with the truck and they could come Friday or Saturday. Since I had to cancel a doctor *********** for Thursday when they were supposed to come and rescheduled it for Friday, I asked if they could come Saturday. Well late Thursday night they asked if they could come Friday afternoon. I said OK as my *********** was in the morning. Since they had trouble with the truck they ended up reloading all of my things in to a 24' U-Haul truck. I asked the driver how much the truck holds he said all not all of this is yours, you had about 830 cubic feet of the truck.I emailed the company about this and they said well you signed for the higher amount, to which I replied because I figured your movers knew what they were doing. In a few emails back and forth they pretty much told me I have no case. I feel they took advantage of a widow in distress. It was less than a month since my husband's death. I fell I am owed a partial refund and an apology for the way I was treated. I also have reported at least 2 items were damaged and I have not gotten any response on that. I have emailed and left a message with no response.

We moved are belongings from the old house in ************* and placed them in storage until our new house in ******* was built. This started in August 2022. When the new house was completed in December 2022, I called them in December to have our belongings moved into the new house. The storage and the move was paid in full in October 2022. All that was required was a follow up phone call to have my belongings moved to the new house. I left numerous voice mails and emails. They have not responded to any of our calls. We finally got an email on December 23, 2022 that a delivery date was available for December 28, 2022, but no delivery date was set. We then got a second email on December 29, 2022 saying that they were still working on setting the delivery date. Our case handler from New Jersey Transport is ********. Her telephone number is ************. Since then we have not heard anything from the company after repeatedly calling them and emailing them. I now live in an empty house with no furniture. I have spent $10,000 using their services and have nothing to show for it. The stress and discomfort is putting a strain on our health and on our ability to work.

Moving cost was more than doubled after the quoted price. We were not told this until the day before the move and then the day of the move. Our inventory didn't vary, we took away items and replaced items, and we didn't have nearly as many boxes as they said. The move was on December 1, 2022.We were quoted a price of $4,100 to move our items from one state to another, they also said they had given me all sorts of discounts because my husband is a Veteran. The day before the move they said we needed to give them an additional $1,500 deposit due to inventory but that it would probably be given back once the movers saw what we had, the amount to be given to the movers upon pick up was now $1,734.24, the same amount was to be given at delivery. The day of pickup New Jersey Transportation told us we owed them another $2,500 but they would take off $500 due to my husband being a Veteran. So now we had to give them $3,468.48 upon pick up and then $1,999 upon delivery. We had no choice, the move was to another state, my husband was starting his job, everything was packed. I have reached out to New Jersey Transportation and *************************, no one has got back to me.
