We hired a glass company based on our contractor's recommendation to install a shower door and replace three skylights in the family room. Apparently, the shower door needed a special bracket to hang it from the wall which has now taken almost two weeks to fashion. Also, the work done (the owner was there but the inexperienced helper did all the work) on the skylights was shoddy. A day after installation, we experienced a major leak and the frame of the window came undone. Also, while taking out the old glass, the helper used a very small canvas to catch the glass as he smashed it with a hammer, leaving glass shards all over my floor, carpet and my front lawn. That work was done on a Friday and he promised to come back on Monday which was fine. On Monday, he asked if he could come back on Friday. I wasn't pleased, but I agreed. Friday came and he never showed up. He then tried to push the installation back to the following Tuesday, and I said absolutely not because it will rain before then and the windows will leak. I also preferred he not bring the inexperienced helper as it is clear he is not trained. The owner took offense to this and said I was insulting his integrity. He has now refused to come back and finish the work even though he was paid in full by check.I feel that because he was paid in full, we were no longer a priority and if we didn't fit into his schedule, he would push it back. I would prefer that he uphold his contract and complete the work, but it seems like he is refusing to do that.I fear my only option now is to lodge a compliant via the BBB and take Vetter glass to small claims court.
