In 11/19 I joined UFC Fit, Wayne, I bought a prepaid 3 year membership with a yearly renewal fee of $49. The gym opened in 4/20 and that is when my membership started. In 2/24, the last time I was at the gym, I spoke to a rep. at the front desk and advised her that I wanted to cancel my prepaid membership and did not want to pay the renewal fee for the next year. The she told me not to pay the annual fee and that my membership would automatically be cancelled.In 4/24, I received a call from *** Fitness ********** ****** Services. They advised that I owed $85.00, $49 annual fee and a $35 late payment fee. After explaining to them that I cancelled my membership, they said to call the gym directly.On 5/7/24, I called the gym and spoke to a male rep who stated that membership cancellations were a common problem. He stated that if I had no intention of returning to UFC that I could just accumulate late fees up to $300 and not pay it. I stated that I wanted to document the cancellation, he said the manager could cancel my membership, but she was in a meeting and would call me back. (She never called back so I thought it was resolved)On 5/20/24, I received another call from ***, they told me to contact the gym directly.I called the gym and spoke to another male rep. who stated that cancellations were a common problem and that the people who were responsible for doing it were "Lazy." I spoke to ******* (manager) who stated that there wasn't any documentation in the system that I cancelled my membership and that if I didn't pay, it would be sent to collections. I advised her that it wasn't fair that I was being penalized for an employee who gave me misinformation, she stated that I should have asked to speak to a manager to cancel my membership. I responded, "Why should I have asked for a manager when there wasn't an issue, I was told not to pay and it would automatically be cancelled."******* would not provide me corporate contact information.
