Aug. 4: I communicated with the company regarding rust spots on their product; they assigned a case number *******) Aug 7: Colleen M***** emailed me affirming that the issue warrants a product replacement (see below) "Is it possible for me to see some pictures of the knives and of the damage? The reasoning is twofold: pictures help me identify the knives in cases where replacement is necessary - as certainly sounds the case here! - and gives me something to forward on to our Quality Control department. Aug. 7: I emailed the photos to Colleen Aug. 8: Paulette U***** emailed me an explanation why their product rusts and offered a preliminary solution to the problem: (see text below) Thank you so much for the pictures! I do have a possible solution for this issue, as it happens. When we first ship out the knives, the factory coats them in a thin sheen of oil to protect them from extreme temperatures during shipping; sometimes, this oil does not wash off completely, leading to the result you're seeing here. We've had a lot of success with a white vinegar soak. Take the knives, place them in a glass of white vinegar for five minutes or so, then give them a good scrub with a sponge. This usually takes care of the surface rusting and the oil, which means it won't happen again. Please give this a try and let me know what happens! If you don't get the results you want, please let me know and we'll move on to the next steps of the process. Aug. 8: I followed the instructions provided by Paulette and emailed her back that it didn't work (see below) Hi Paulette, Thanks for sharing the solution of vinegar soak. I tried it twice and the spots still persist. I'd be happy to pay the difference if an upgrade to a better quality set is advisable. Please let me know if that's an option (no response) Aug. 11: I called ###-###-#### and left a voicemail requesting follow-up (no response). Aug. 19: I emailed a reminder (no response) Aug. 23: I called and left another voicemail (no response) Every other department listed in the recorded welcome voice message end up dropping the call. The chat bot on their website offers "an article that might help" each time I attempt to get to an agent.Initial Complaint

I purchased knives from the company in October 2022. Within 3 weeks the wooden knife handles started to turn from regular hand washing. The knives I used most where starting to lose sharpness. I contacted Schmidt Brothers warranty department and although they respond it takes weeks for them to do so. They asked for pictures. I sent them. They asked me what knife set would I like to replace the ones I have and nothing. It has been 3 months with no resolve. This company warranty department needs major improvement.
