I'm quick to complain when people take advantage. In this case, Economy Motors went above and beyond in taking care of this customer, so we owe them out gratitude and this reference.In late June, I was assisting a friend in purchasing a used car and we happened upon Economy Motors. This would be her first car purchase ever, and we ended up purchasing a used **** 500 there because the car had relatively low miles and appeared to be in good operating condition.Because my friend who purchased the car was not yet comfortable with a manual transmission, it was agreed that I would drive it back to ************ (over an hour's drive). Shortly after I took the car off the lot (about 10 miles) the oil pressure light went on with another indicator light directing me to turn off the engine immediately. I immediately turned it into a gas station, contacted Economy Motors, and ******, the owner, arranged to have the car towed to a mechanic. No problems were identified so I went back and picked up the car again. I drove it to ************ and the same warning lights went on again. The next day, the car was once again towed to a mechanic. That mechanic couldn't work on the car so it was sent to a **** dealership's mechanic. The dealership said the car needs a new engine.All of this took nearly a month. At the end of it, even though the car is more than 7 years old and Economy Motors would have no legal responsibility to make good on the car, ****** at Economy Motors offered to purchase the car back. The cost for the engine repair would be prohibitive, and she couldn't allow us to take the car with this damaged motor. She refunded the amount in full.Again, because the car was sold as is and New Jersey lemon laws don't apply to cars over 7 years old, ****** was under no obligation to take care of us any further. What she did was above and beyond. She was exceptionally responsible to this customer. Others looking for a used car in central ********** should seriously consider purchasing from Economy Motors.
