Me and my father stopped in one day, (06/12/2023) to speak with ***** about a Red 2009 Mini ****** S Clubman that was for sale on his lot there. i was sure to reiterate my situation to the owner, *****, numerous times, clearly expressing how skeptical my father and i both were about purchasing a used vehicle from a dealer. *****, the owner, was sure to smooth talk his way through everything! Told me not to worry, that although there is no warranty on the car, he will at the very least still be sure that it passes state inspection. i bought it, financing the car for 30 months with a very high interest rate due to my lack of credit. the next day i called, to let him know that a check engine light had popped up. he did ask me to get it to him as soon as i could, but i also have a career of my own, and a child i need to be there for. i could not just jump. 1 1/2 weeks later he called to tell me that my plates arrived. i told him i still need someone to check out the car, because it is still acting up with no change yet. he agreed. well the next day i showed up to his lot, to pick up the plates. he didnt mention anything about my check engine light. after he was finished with my license plates, i reminded him about checking it out. his reply was, Yeah, i dont have any way to check it out, but dont you know anyone who knows these cars that could help you fix it?uhhh, if i did, i would have just kept my original car and fixed that all up!so here i am, tied to 28 more months of a ridiculous monthly car note, all for a car priced at $7500, which is now going to cost WELL OVER $12000-$15000. i am at a COMPLETE loss here. i have no idea what to do!i called ***** the following day, to tell him that the car was in

      Regarding the 2009 Mini ****** S Clubman,

I understand a check engine light came on after taking delivery, when customer called he was asked to bring the vehicle back to us so we can see what the issue may be. Customer did not return to us until weeks late.

At this point customer has driven said vehicle for over 2 months with said light on and **** miles were put on vehicle. This vehicle is now at ************ waiting for a decision to be made by customer and dealership, as damage has effected motor due to excessive driving without repair.

Economy Motors has always tried to resolve any issue in a timely matter with all vehicles sold, even thou they are sold As-Is. If vehicle is not brought back to us it is impossible to repair said problems.

Economy Motors has been family owned and operated for over 50 years and has worked hard to build a reputation by treating customers fair and selling quality used cars.

I am rejecting this response because:

Now, while I do agree that the vehicle should have gotten there sooner than it did, I still have to disagree. Simply for the reason being that the vehicle did NOT have a check engine light on the whole time I had the car. With that said, the car drove for maybe 100 Feet MAXIMUM after there was an actual check engine light....    After going back and forth with the owner of the dealership,  i was finally persuaded to get the car in for their mechanic to check it out. Mind you, before even having the car towed there, (yet another expense stemming from my lemon of a purchase), I made it extremely clear to the owner on the phone that I was 99% certain that the problem the car was experiencing was in fact the engine due to worn/blown pistons. I kept asking what the point was of getting the car there, unless there was going to be some kind of a resolution to come from it. We spoke about the possibilities of getting into a different vehicle,  or replacing the engine in this one, but then once the news was set in stone about what the issue was with it, all offers then ceased to exist; meaning as soon as she had her mechanic tell her exactly what I already told her, I was then left on my own. I was told I would need to dish out $3500-$4000 for the cost of the new engine. Granted, she said she would cover the labor, myself and my father both kindly explained to her that there was no way possible for me to be able to pay that right now. We had asked about the possibility of getting it done as a loan type of deal, even with a guarantee of payback within the next 3 months, refused to help us. While I do understand, that it is not "technically" their responsibility to pay for any of it, the fact that they were so gung-ho on helping out, up until they found out i was correct, and it was going to be a $4000 fix, just as I had mentioned to her on the phone before finally agreeing to get the car there. I was talked down to many times throughout this whole process as well,  meanwhile all throughout this process,  I also lost my job, which I had for over 2 years prior to getting the car, and also to top it off, I also had to rescind to only seeing my daughter on the weekends, who is 6 yrs old and I have had 50/50 custody of since she was just an infant, never have i ever missed even a moment of time with her since. Up until this whole fiasco. I bought a new car in order to make my life EASIER, despite my lack of credit, and what I knew was going to consist of crazy high payments,

(yes I know the high payments are at nobody'sfault but my own)

I still considered it to be worth all of that,  so that I could have more reliability in my day to day life. Long story short, that theory came back only to bite me, and I fact I honestly wish that I have never even heard of the name "Economy Motors".

It is still not too late for something to happen here, and perhaps come to some type of a resolution. I am not asking for any hand outs, just a little help. I expect nothing for free, that's not who I am. But wherebi come from, if youbhave the ability to help someone whom you assisted with getting them into a bad spot, then you do just that.

I would love nothing more than to be able to get rid of all of these negative reviews, and comments, and instead become their biggest advocate. It wouldn't take much, just please, help make this right. It is still not too late.

      Regards,

Economy Motors deals with several local mechanics as to which we send vehicles to be repaired. After a sale if there is an issue we send to our local mechanics for repair/evaluation. Yes, this vehicle now needs motor repairs as to which we offered to pay the labor if customer purchases the motor at cost of $3500. This vehicle was sold AS-IS and we have no obligation to repair this vehicle. Again, this situation could have been avoided or possibly not have needed a motor replace. ***** miles over 2 months is excessive driving under normal conditions. Unfortunately, we cannot also purchase motor and wait for payments. Most vehicles are financed through banks and this one was with a high interest because of customers credit rating. We cannot control that either. Again, we are willing to pay for labor cost on an AS-IS purchase.

Drove past their dealership on Sunday November 21st and I saw a used car on their lot for sale. It was a **** ****** Forester 2.5XT. I searched online through their website and the vehicle was not listed anywhere. So, I stopped in on Monday November 22nd when they were open to test drive and inspect the car. The salesman i was interacting with was named *****. While test driving the vehicle the check engine light went on. Upon returning from the test drive, we went inside of the building to discuss the vehicle. I asked what the price of the vehicle was and he said there was none yet since the vehicle was new to them from auction. He also said they are gonna look into the engine light and let me know when they get both pieces of info. Later that day, I called back and asked if they looked at the car yet and ***** stated not yet but probably tomorrow. I called back the next day Tuesday November 23rd and spoke with *****. He said they pulled a misfire code but that are gonna send it to a shop to get checked out further. I asked if they knew a price they were going to be asking. He stated they were going to price the vehicle at $6300 (before the engine light went on). I said ok just call me as soon as you find out whats going on.In the morning of Wednesday the 24th I called and spoke to *****, and he said they didnt send it out yet. He then asked me if I would be willing to buy the car as is with the light on. I said yes, just let me know what price you would be asking in that case. ***** said he would call be back and let me know. I waited patiently to hear back from him since the next day was the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. After patiently waiting, I called today to check on the vehicles status. ***** said they listed the car online and sold the vehicle!I was not called. I was the first buyer. They never asked for a deposit to hold the vehicle. I want first right of refusal. I told them I wanted the car. I paid to list my car to sell in preparation!

In response to the **** ****** Forester. This vehicle was sold to a walk in customer, before it was listed on our website. A deposit will hold a vehicle but we do not pressure customers to leave a deposit.
