I made $100.00 deposit on a transmission for 2004 Nissian Front. May 10, 2022. I really needed one. Come to find out it’s in Gallup. He said pick it up in Gallup, Thursday May 10, 2022, but they didn’t have it so after that I just ask for a refund. They asked to pick it up in 2 wks or I lose my $100.00. I told them I don’t have a place to store it and al this time I’m busy with my Grandaughter School promotion w/ sales. ABQ Auto Salvage said, they were losing money on it. My receipt doesn’t say No Refund or they didn’t Verbally say No Refund either. I get one check a mo.Business response

****** originally ordered a transmission from us on May 10th. She came in with her grand daughter and being an elderly woman myself I empathized with her. She was to pick up the transmission at our Gallup location which was more convenient for her. She is claiming she went to that location and was told it was not ready. This unfortunately is not the case. I myself have called her repeatedly to get her to pick up the part. She kept telling me that she was busy with other things going on in her life. About a week ago she called wanting her deposit refunded and said she no longer wanted the transmission. I informed her that we would not be able to refund her deposit as we do not get parts pulled from a vehicle free nor do we hold parts for over a month. Please refer to our posted company policies regarding deposits which is attached.

Complaint: ********
Dear BBB,
Message from ABQ sound very sweet. I didn’t there was No refund, I was not verbally told at the time and it was written on my sales slip. I did go to the the place where I was to pick up the used transmission. I also hired 2 guys to unload it at one of them’s workplace. But, it’s not available to be picked up. My grandaughter was getting promoted to 9th grade, at this time I was helping with fund raising, meetings, egg rolls to sell before the promotion, tickets to mail, where cakes to ordered and etc. I was helping alot with Sales. After all of this, ABQ started calling, calling not nicely, but saying it cost them to have some one to take it out. That’s when I told them, I’ll just get a refund, the lady said, well if you don’t pick it up by the end of the week, ur going to lose ur $100.00. They didn’t say, they’ll work with. I needed my ride to carry on doing the fund raising. I’m a Grandma to my Grandaughter that lost her mom, her step Dad & her aunt. I get paid once a month. I didn’t want to let her down on her promotion. I just want my $100 back. I wasn’t told verbally and my receipt didn’t have No Refund on it. If either or I wouldn’t have put $100.00. It started in Albq. with paper work not in Gallup. If I picked the transmission in Albq. I would stored in Los Lunas. It wasn’t convenient for me. I don’t know how they came to that conclusion. This is not good business. Sorry! Sincerely ****** ******Business response

I believe this is the third time I have responded to this complaint. ****** keeps insisting she is a grandma with lots of responsibilities involving her granddaughter's graduation making it difficult to find the time to pick up her transmission. She does need to understand how a business operates and its guidelines. Simply put, once again, she purchased a transmission at our Albuquerque location and left a deposit of $100. To make it easier for her we shipped it to our Gallup location. The receipt is for the deposit only. Information regarding warranty or returns are not printed until the product is actually picked up and the balance is paid and final invoice created. However, posted at our purchase order desk there is a 4 x 6 billboard stating company policies. I have sent you a copy on my previous reply. Please review it and refer to item No. 11 wherein it states "any parts left after 7 business days will be sold for scrap". ****** was called numerous times requesting she pick up her transmission. She kept putting us off until finally, after more than a month, we informed her that unless she picked it up she would forfeit her deposit. We are not in the storage business nor do have parts pulled for free. By the way the employee that dealt with ****** is a great grandmom. By the way my name is spelled Stephanie.Customer response

Re: ID#******** ABQ Salvage & Recycling,
To: Better Business Bureau,
Yes! I am a Grandma. I did put a deposit on a transmission ($100) I was not told verbally when George was helping me with the deposit down and my receipt did not have a stamp or hand written No Refund on Deposit. But then George said the transmission was in Gallup, for me to go to Gallup and pick it up there. I took 2 guys to load and unload it for me. The transmission was not ready for pick up. Yes, my Grandaughter and I were busy with the school (8th) doing fund raising, selling and meetings, etc. I started to get calls, but I was nice, yelling them, I’m very busy with graduation events. After several calls. I just asked for a refund. Because they said in five days you will lose you’re deposit. So, that’s why I called Better Business Bureau to step in. I was in Phoenix during enrollment, shopping, should saying my Grandaughter for school clothes and school supplys. First letter was wait under my door. That was dated August 5, 2022, that was written assuming its resolved & respond within 5 days. Second letter was Aug. 10, 2022 saying BBB profile as answered. They could have called. Im only one person. ABQ Auto Salvage have 3 (three) or four persons. Im out numbered. Im in a shelter until Oct. first 2022 to join my Grandaughter in Phoenix. I need to take care of my health issues to the end of Sept. Then, Im moving back to Phoenix. BBB; the decision should have been ABQ Auto Recycle give ½ of the $100 back and still be making money. I would have $50.00 back for Starr’s school supplies. For what they did was not legit. I get one check a month. Take from the poor, not Good business. My say, was not considered at all.
Sincerely,
****** ******
