Since 2021 we have worked with *** ***** ***** and Lgend Energy to get a functional Solar Energy system installed for my Duplex at *** *** *** ***** ** ** *****. In the years we have worked with these companies we have witnessed all three be unwilling, unavailable, unhelpful, and noncompliant parties in our Solar process. It took over a year from the date I reached out to Legend Energy to finalize the sale and installation of our Solar Panel system. It took months after the installation for the system to be functional, all this time we are paying on a system that was not producing energy for us at all. After the process of installation and mounds of bAll the while my family and I are stuck with the bill of a defective solar panel system on top of paying for our regular electricity usage. Ultimately, ***** ***** from Lgend Energy confirmed that this company designed a system that would not compensate for my household's electricity needs, and sold this system to me under the pretense that they would over produce for the household. ***** offered to sell me more panels at an extra “discounted cost” however I am not interested in this solution nor am I interested in pursuing solar as an alternative energy source any longer. We insist that the panels are given and installed for free, or that the system we have is refunded in full, removed from our property and all damages to the roof and side of the house be repaired at no cost to us. We are no longer interested in pursuing solar as an alternative energy source. Along the way we've found nothing but price gouging, responsibility dodging from all companies *** ***** and Legend, and the absolute inability to actually work and problem solve together to get my system running effectively for me as a paying client to all of you! Shame on all of you for making solar energy inaccessible and unreliable for my household. If we are not able to reach an agreement on how to proceed at no cost to me, I will seek legal counsel if necess

      Business response

      08/08/2023

Good afternoon, like the email conversation shows. This project was started when ******* reached out to our company for a quote in November of 2020. This quote was initiated by a sales rep that found new work before ******* was installed. I only began communicating with ******* at that time to assist her so she could make it to the finish line.

At this point ******* had been sized using the *** bills she currently had and which she provided the sales rep. The bill she provided was for October and the usage was that of 118 KWHs for that month. (Bill provided being attached). This bill was for half of the month, so 2X her usage would put her at 236 KWHs for the month.

If you look at the *** bill ******* provided for July of 2022, roughly 10 months after the solar system had been installed. The *** charge is just for the amount of $8.18, this amount is for the customer charge. A charge that *** will never drop. On this particular bill you see that the "Total amount due" is for the amount of $16.42, this is only because the previous month's bill had not been paid yet so *** was charging for two months worth of bills in that one billing cycle. This is makes it very clear that 10 months after installation, and more than a year after signing up for solar, this system was producing power and functioning as it was designed to do. This is also the reason why this is only being brought up today, rather than years ago when this system was originally installed and turned on.

After reviewing the past 2 years bills ******* provided (2022 and 2023) it is clear that her energy consumption has increased not just from 2021, but also from the year of 2022 to 2023.
In January of 2022 *******’s *** bill shows consumption of roughly 390 KWHs. In January of 2023 (Just one year later), *******s *** bill shows consumption of over 1,800 KWHs (almost 500% more power in the same month year over year). Meaning that in the years after going solar *******’s property has continued to increase her usage drastically.

From the bills ******* provided rep day one she was sized correctly hence why the 2022 bills provided by ******* looked as they should, and has simply increased her consumption year over year. Which is why she is reaching out now rather than years ago. Today she is feeling like the system is not working simply because she is using more power than what her system was designed to produce.

Solar systems are not designed to produce unlimited energy, but rather offset the usage homeowners provide us with.

***** Solar Power went to do a check up on the solar system to make sure the system is working properly, and they determined that the system is indeed functioning as it should. Any charge from *** is therefore not a double bill, but rather *** charging ******* for the energy that she is still drawing from the grid after she used all of her solar production.

Hence the resolution I provided ******* . After speaking with her and ***** Solar Power our team is prepared to take a look at how much more power she is using now and provide additional solar panels without any markup. Meaning she would get her additional panels at the cost ***** provides us with.

We at LGND Energy care about our customers and take these matters very seriously, hence why we have done such an extensive review of this situation. We of course care about the customer experience and would appreciate being able to reach ******* via telephone call to try and come to some resolution, we are not against looking at other options and arrive at an understanding that makes sense for everyone.

      Customer response

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

My complaint was not addressed by legnd energy we already are aware that our panels are not producing properly for the property. The complaint against Lgnd Energy is that we worked closely with them as clients for over a year before the panels were installed on the property. We were never asked to provide a broader view of our energy usage after ***** designed our system. I am claiming that this failure on Lgnd Energys part (despite no lack of time) is what has caused so much confusion and anguish to go on over this solar energy system. We have brought these complaints to many peoples attentions from *** Lgnd ***** solar the governor the mayor anyone who would listen, because this is a consumers rights violation. I should not have to pay on an energy system that is not producing for me. We are not interested in "buying more panels." Please offer a solution that does not cost us a single penny and leaves us whole (fixing any damages sustained by the solar energy system installation to the roof walls and any other applicable area of the property,)

      Regards,

      ******* ********
