We are contracted with North Central Solid Waste Authority, Rio Arriba County, for monthly payment for weekly garbage pickup and disposal. We are fortunate if they collect our garbage every two weeks. I would say that in the past 6 months they have come on the collection day designated maybe once a month at most. We call continually and are always given an excuse: Truck broke down, not enough drivers, etc. I ask them why I am expected to pay for four weeks service a month when I normally get only two. Depending on whom I am talking to, I am commiserated with and told they will be there today or tomorrow (which does not subsequently happen) or told we aren't charged for pickup, only for disposal. It's written in the county ordinance that they have to pay the solid waste fee whether the services are rendered or not. Whether it's a mechanical issue, staffing issue, or weather issue, we may run one or two weeks behind.

The country ordinance says I have to have an account with North Central Solid Waste Authority in order to get a building permit. This sounds like the county is forcing to me to do business with a single solution, no freedom of choice. So I opened an account with NCSWA. I do not need, want or use NCSWA products or services. Yet, they keep sending me a bill and now they are carrying forward a balance from 2023 and billing me for 2024 as well. They are strong arming me in to paying for something I do not need, want or use. I have called and emailed them through their web page and I have never gotten a response to address this issue.Business response

Hello, I was reaching out from North Central Solid Waste Authority regarding the concerns you have regarding the account. I understand where your issues are but due to the Rio Arriba County Ordinance, we have to keep the account open as this is a habitable dwelling. All habitable dwellings within Rio Arriba County must have a solid waste account established. I have attached a copy of the ordinance itself, but the overall purpose for the ordinance is to preserve Rio Arriba County. Additionally, the account was set up as a self-haul account meaning the solid waste accumulated can and must be disposed of at the nearest collection center and the self-haul account is a discounted rate as well. I am rejecting this response because: I am perfectly ok with having an account with North Central Solid Waste Authority. I am a good stewart of the land and take great care of my property. I would happily pay for your services "WHEN" I use them. I did not use NCWA services in 2023 and I do not plan on using NCWA services in 2024. I take great exception to being billed for services I do not need or use. What I want to resolve this dispute is a pay as I go arrangement. As I said, I will happily pay to use the transfer station "WHEN" I use the transfer station.

I pay every year on time for north central solid waste authority to pick up my garbage once a week. For the past few months they have only come 2 times a month This week makes it number 3 with no pickup. I.have called them three times recently, and was told today was the day. Days came and passed with no pickup.I called again today and the lady didn’t know anything about my situation, didnt know anything about when the trash is going to get picked up. As of now the situation has gotten dangerous because wild raccoons, cats , dogs, coyotes, crows , skunks are coming around and throwing my trash barrel. I am afraid for my kids and neighbors kids . Also the lady who I talked to was rude and unapologetic and nothing has been resolvedBusiness response

As of 10/10/2023 9:17am I have emailed Ms. ****** and let her know that we are addressing her concerns and if anything, additional is needed to reach out to me.
