wanted to talk about our experience with berks painting. **** came by, we showed him what needed to be done. that was pressure wash the entire house, SPRAY and ROLL paint the entire house, repair some large cracks, completely stucco an unfinished doorway. replace an existing door with a new one, clean up. he totally agreed and he said his crew could handle it. he bid some $10,000. he was to start in a week. that got postponed for a couple weeks. no big deal. here's where the problems start. they sprayed and rolled only half the house, which covered nicely. he had the crew just roll (no spraying) the rest, to save on masking time and money and which caused a lot of coverage problems. there was a fair amount of overspray around the sprayed part in which he himself said it would be taken care of, it never was. the stucco repair was a poor job which i commented numerous times about, but it was never resolved. the other cracks were also done poorly. the new door hanging went very bad, these guys were not mentally equipped to do it. they hung it wrong. sanded it way over the amount it should have been, it is now the door edge is very crooked. drilled door k*** holes to the point they had to be repatched. they never painted it, they left it for me. basically, i had to rehang and redo the entire door including unattaching and realigning the door frame. i had to take it off the hinges, adjust them, rehang it. totally patch one k*** hole. redrill for another k*** paint the door,inside and out, they scratched the heck out of the floor hanging, taking down, rehanging it numerous times. **** showed up and told them to end the job, not sure why, as they were not done. he stated numerous times he was suspected of having cancer, my wife died of cancer, i'm pretty sure i know what it's like and it wasn't cancer, it was feel sorry for me excuse. he demanded final payment. i argued with him about a certain charge. he stormed out, went to his truck. came back in with a lower price. he ended up having to send a crew back to do what should have been done at first, that is re-roll 5 walls due to light coverage and a very large spot they didn't even paint on the fence as well as other missed spots around the house. **** found a large crack and said he would be back the next day to repair it- he never showed. they did a total butcher job on two facia board repairs, but they fixed them to satisfaction before leaving. they left mess around the house- wood,tape concrete from repairs. they left painters tape up, i took it off. they did not take any lights down to paint under them, instead, painted around them and on them. they did not replace rotted porch upright post as we discussed. they covered 2 motion light while spraying,hmm. i opened both garage doors so they could paint the jambs. a radial arm saw went missing, **** offered to pay for it. well, if his crew did not take it why offer to pay for it? we contacted **************** and got refunded the final payment, **** did not argue with us or **************** even a little. he made no contact with them. to this day you can find all kinds of light spots on the walls that were rolled, which i believe was done to save money. the walls that were sprayed and rolled, which we were told was gonna be the entire house, were good. 4 windows were left unlocked? we have 2 years to file claims with ****************, and we are considering filing a second one for some $3000.00 for poor unfinished work above and beyond the first filing. **************** has some 110 pictures of bad work, a 7 page report. i have written **** probably 8 times. he threatened to call the police on me if i did not stop contacting him, i told him to go ahead as i wanted to show them coins he gave me and a necklace he gave my girlfriend. this is not a complaint for money as i will take care of that myself, but rather a buyer beware for the next guy. if this guy wants to come over and finish the job, i would be okay with that. if not. so be it. the left over paint they left, they mixed the trim and house colors together thus rendering it useless. i can't even touch the house up myself as the paint is the wrong color now.
