      This customer was told since day one that it was a simple set of plans. This customer got his product two weeks early due to persistent complaining.

      The product was exactly as explained and is usable to obtain a permit in Taos County with everything needed plus extras.

      No refund will be issued.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      There were no allotted hours as he noted in his letter.  This is made up and was never an agreement for a time period. The agreement was to do plans to get all the permits needed to build a home.   He was actually late in getting me the useless plans, but gave him a break as he had COVID.  He threatened to place an illegal Lien on my home, as he knew I was selling even though the bill wasn't due....but I paid him the requested amount to avoid not being able to close the sale on my home.  Defamatory statements not based off actual knowledge that i treated County workers badly is just another non-factual statement this owner likes to make.  I treat those who are professional, professionally. I will not pay another penny to get these plans to maybe get a permit.  I have another company who is redoing them completely, as the ones he provided are useless for anything. I'm looking for a refund of 1/2 of my costs or $1000.

      This is in response to BBB letter dated April 5, 2024. Complaint ID ********. There will be no refund issued. I said if Mr. ******* would provide red marks, I would make corrections. If he will not provide changes needed I cannot provide anything else to this project.

      I hired Sturdy Construction, LLC to assess and perform roofing repairs for a flat roof at my new home. It was their assessment that the canales (rain channel drains) on the roof needed to be replaced. He quoted me a fair price and agreed to warranty his work as well as install several “mushroom” style vents to allow for moisture evaporation. Sturdy Construction did not finish their work, and the work they did do must be completely re-done. The patches on the roof are already pealing and leaking again. Canales are nearly inoperable now due to poor workmanship. Rain water sits on my roof like a pond now, and does not properly drain, and has leaked inside my house since their attempt at repairs. Sturdy Construction did not install mushroom vents, nor did they properly seal or reconstruct the canales- they simply put several layers of bitumen material over the leaking existing patches. They also broke all of my sky lights- none of them were broken prior to their attempts to install weather stripping. All skylights now have water between the two panes of plexiglass, creating a moisture-induced ring and haze. When I emailed the owner to ask about the mushroom vents, several areas of the roof that were not repaired properly, and the fact that a large amount of debris was left on my roof, I was rudely reprimanded. All of their work has to be redone now at great expense to me, as well as repairing the new damage created by their poor workmanship, to include replacing all of the skylights. At a minimum, I am requesting a full refund in the amount of $2137.50.

      At my initial meeting with Ms. ***** I informed her that she only had about 3 years left on her roof, I also informed her that the skylights had water at the edges and thirdly I informed her that the only way to reduce the ponding would be to reframe the roof. She did not want a new roof or skylights unless they were leaking. Since my initial proposal there was no warranty because you cannot warrant patches. She did not complain until after payment.
      I went and swept the roof with approximately a foot of snow to prevent damage before work could be performed. I also added flashing to areas, I also added additional weather stripping around the skylights that I never charged her for.
      ***** called my at strange hours of the evening trying to blame me for large noises on her roof, she also blamed me for trash blowing which was nonexistent and further more I believe this is due to personal issues she has with me, that I do not feel comfortable talking about.
      So in conclusion I feel I did a quality job on an old roof for a lady that did not want to replace it until she remodeled it. She did not even complain until a month later. Then she specifically told me to never come back again, so I respected her wishes. I am very sorry if anything else failed close to the initial patches but I did a quality job at a fair price.

      Sturdy Construction’s response is completely untruthful. 

      1) He repeatedly assured me that my roof had 7-10 years remaining. 
      2) The cracks in my skylights were not present before he removed them and replaced them- he caused this damage, and I have a homeowner’s inspection from within a month of his services to prove this.
      3) His claim that he recommended that the roof be reframed is completely FALSE. He never once suggested this- only that the canales be “rebuilt” which he did not do. The pooling water on my roof and subsequent new leaks are the DIRECT result of his poor workmanship. I have had to hire another company to redo his work because of the leaks.
      4) Sturdy construction added no flashing anywhere on my roof.
      5) He offered to do the weatherstripping for free, but that does not excuse the fact that he broke my skylights, nor does it excuse his poor attitude and his attacking me in emails and texts
      6) His claim that I called at “strange hours” is completely false. I have no personal issues with the owner of this business- his claim that I do is completely unprofessional and unwarranted. My issue with Sturdy Construction is their extremely poor workmanship and their poor attitude towards me when I voiced concerns regarding the facts related to their poor workmanship.
      7) I asked him, and he agreed, to remove all trash from my roof. He did not do so. He left an open bag of trash on my roof for several weeks while he worked on other jobs. This bag opened in the wind and blew debris all over my yard. I had to go up on the roof and remove the bag of trash myself, and upon doing so, I no longer had trash in my yard.

      Sturdy Construction, LLC is an incompetent and unprofessional business. I again request a full refund of $2137.50. ALL of the work this company performed on my roof must be re-accomplished at great expense to me. Sturdy Construction took advantage of me in a difficult situation as I was trying to close on my house. They have repeatedly lied, now in writing in response to my BBB complaint. I am not satisfied at all with their inappropriate and untruthful response.

      I did the work that I charged for, I even did extra work. She told me to never go back when I offered to try to address her concerns. On the contract it is clear that there is no warrant on patches. I will not be refunding Ms. ***** for work done. I have done thousands of jobs with only one complaint. This is a personal problem not a problem with the work that was performed.

      This is not a personal problem. Sturdy Construction is incompetent and unprofessional. Regardless of what warranty he thinks hes protected from, the law contains an Implied Warranty for Merchantability as well as an Implied Warranty of Fitness For A Particular Purpose.

      Sturdy Construction is in violation of the law. I again request a full refund. If I have to take this to court, I will be suing for a full refund, the cost of additional repairs (including interior damage caused by poor wormanship) and all legal fees. The total will likely be in excess of $6000.
