Dropped off my car for repair after a car accident 3 weeks ago. The auto shop is refusing to respond to the insurance company (State Farm) and will not answer my phone calls or return my car to me. My car is missing. They refuse to return it to me.Customer response

My car was in their shop for rear axle and bumper damage from an accident in which I was not at fault. The only contact I had from them was a phone call demanding I pay for replacement of a front axle as well they said was broken. I told them the accident only impacted the rear of my car and there was no issue with my front axle when I left the car with them. They wanted me to issue payment. I asked them to go through the insurance company. They stopper communicating with me. I contacted the insurance company who advised Peck was not responding to their phone calls and emails. This went on for three and a half weeks. I filed a complaint with New Mexico legal aid who advised to show up in person and try to get my car back. When I showed up they said coincidentally the car just happened to be ready. They replaced my back bumper incorrectly. It was not secured to the car and they didn't bother reconnecting the break and turn signal lights. The car seemed off when I drove it. I took the car to a other mechanic in town who advised that my bumper would have eventually fallen off and that a front axle was replaced but "slid on crooked and they didn't bother to tighten the bolts so it would have collapsed eventually." I paid for the correct installation out of pocket.
