I Drove **** miles to purchase a semi from ****, he cut me a deal on it and sent me on my way.. 5 miles away head gasket failed, got it to a shop where it needed a new head, new cam, new turbo.. $20k in parts.. ***** response I thought it was a diamond seal.

    Guided Truck and Equipment Response

    05/21/2023

This is in response to the claims made by ******************* stating that I sold him a truck that broke down 5 miles after purchasing it. *** purchased a **** Model year Kenworth truck with ********* miles on it with no prior engine repair or rebuild history for $10,500.00. This truck was priced well below market value because of the high miles and lack of engine rebuild history. The same truck with a recent engine rebuild or low original miles retails for $30,000 to $45,000 depending on overall condition. A new truck with a factory warranty retails for $200,000 plus. *** was made aware that the engine had an oil leak prior to purchasing the truck. *** was also made aware and signed paperwork acknowledging the sale was as-is where- is with nowarranty. We drove the truck approximately 500 miles prior to listing it for sale. We did not find any issues with the engine other than the oil leak that was disclosed. I had my shop inspect the truck for any needed repairs. We replaced some of the suspension air springs and a couple u-joints along with new headlight bulbs. We also replaced one exhaust elbow that was leaking and repaired the windshield wipers and washers. The transmission, clutch and rear differential were replaced approximately 3 years ago by the prior owner of the truck.*** messaged me on ******** messenger a little over a month after purchasing the truck claiming the engine needs a head, cam, and turbo. He also claimed the parts cost is over $20,000. He stated that the oil was leaking all over the truck in the first five miles of driving it. I responded right away and stated that I was sorry to hear that and wish he would have reached out right away if he was unsatisfied so we could have tried to figure something out. He responded by cussing at me over messenger. At that time I explained to him that I believe there is more to the story and he probably blew the engine considering his claim of needing $20,000 in parts. A complete engine rebuild including parts and labor runs around $20,000 to $25,000. I also explained that both him and I know the engine could last a couple days or a couple years when you purchase something with high mileage and no history. He responded again by cussing at me and telling me how much he hates me as a person. At that time I stopped responding.*** picked this truck up in ****** on April 15th and drove it over ***** miles to ************, before messaging me a month later on May 17th. His review claims the head gasket failed 5 miles away from my shop and he had to spend over $20,000 in parts for the repair. His message to me versus his review are contradicting, further more the typical cost for a head gasket replacement is around $5,000 parts and labor in a shop. Not $20,000 in parts. Regardless of what actually happened, *** never made ** aware of or asked us to remedy any problems or concerns he might have had when he purchased the truck.

    Customer Response

Once again, **** said it was a diamond seal his mechanics found in the shop and I took his word. The truck did not break down 5 miles away, the truck was sold with a bad head gasket which was the massive oil leak. Drove it home to my mechanic where it sat until May 17th while it was waiting for the head gasket to arrive which the mechanic knew instantly what it was (I did not because Im not a mechanic) after the head gasket arrived the mechanic tore into it to find the turbo leaking oil, the cam lobes wore, and the head in bad shape. Bottom line is he knew he was selling a truck with a bad head gasket or his mechanics might need some training. Careful taking your expensive trucks here folks! The **** kenworth is also a t600 not a $45k w900 $10k was a fair price for a running and driving one, not one with a bad head gasket.

And if anyone wants proof before spending money here, I have time stamped messages of me discovering how bad the oil leak actually is, and surveillance video of the truck sitting at my mechanics from April 17th to today.
