On 3/18/24, ** referred us to Hometown Appliance Repair, LLC (formed on 11/11/21) to install an ** replacement part on our microwave. On 3/19/24, we spoke with ****** *************************, the owner who we later learned runs this business from a residential address of **********************************************. We relayed **'s message and requested an appt. for the repair services. On 3/20/24 ******* called confused about our address, which we provided again, and he advised there would be a $75 repair service charge to replace the magnetron which was still under warranty with **. He advised it would take 5 days for the part to arrive. On or about 3/27/24, we called ******* who said ** didn't approve the work order which we later learned was because ******* failed to provide our correct address to ** which had to be rectified. On or about 4/3/24, ******* claimed ** still didn't have the correct address and told us to call ** ourselves. We did, at which time ******* claimed the part had actually been shipped on 4/1/24. Ultimately, the part was either never shipped and/or ******* never had any intention of completing the service repair, so we contacted him again to request a refund of the $75 repair fee. Initially, ******* agreed to the refund, but then he reneged and laughingly said, **** me," as he hung up the phone. On 4/11/24, we followed up on the refund, and ******* again laughingly asked what we were "gonna do about it." We will separately address with ** its referral to a subpar, dishonest, fraudulent company who unlawfully stole monies under false pretenses; however, it's also necessary to file the instant formal complaint seeking the BBB's assistance for potential resolution. Finally, it's important to share this experience with the public to hopefully prevent ******* from taking advantage of any other unsuspecting customers.

Some consumers may elect to not publish the details of their complaints, some complaints may not meet BBB's standards for publication, or BBB may display a portion of complaints when a high volume is received for a particular business.
