On January 30, 2023, I contacted ***** garage about there is possibility of my garage opener not working. ***** representative informed me that they would come out on January 31, 2023, to investigate the issue. I confirmed with the representative that there is no charge for estimating. On January 31, 2023, at about 1 pm, ***** tech ***** investigated my garage issue and told me I needed a new opener. He told me that he would adjust a couple of the door springs so it would be easier for me to open the garage manually. I told me I would get an estimate for the new opener in the morning. I asked him how much I would be charged for the spring adjustment. He told me that would be no charge. He took about 5 minutes to address two of my garage door spring. Then he told me he better writes me a bill because he forgot that the company had changed the estimated policy. The invoice said that he had performed the door balance, lubed, and run tests for proper operation. However, he did not lube the door or balance it and the door. I felt like I was tricked and scammed. I was charged ****** for nothing. I called the ***** office at about 1:26 PM and addressed my issue with the service charge. The operator said it is standard that they charge ****** for an estimate. I never get an estimate for an opener from C &M garage. On February 1, 2023, the office manager told me that they were waiting for an estimate for a new opener. I contracted another company on February 4, 2023, to install a new opener. ***** garage did not disclose the estimate fee when they sent the tech to my house, and they failed to give me an estimate as promised. They did not perform the work as was said in the invoice. I should get my $****** refund.Business response

It was to our understanding that this was a service call to get the doors operational and that a quote was wanted for a new operator. There hasn't been a change in the policy to giving free estimates. But if the technician does any work to the existing equipment that there is a service call fee. We did receive a call that afternoon after the technician was there, and he was made aware that if any work was done that there is a service call fee. We then received a call the following morning to not send an estimate and were told he would call another company. We tried to make it right at the time and he hung up. We are more than happy to refund the service call and please contact our office so we can accommodate this matter.
