My mother has been removed from this facility after they almost killed her. The first hospital visit in May 2022, she had a UTI and was dehydrated. The last time in June, in the hospital she had a slight UTI and her potassium and sodium levels were critically high and low. She had severe dehydration. Her nail beds were gross, the inside of her nose was green and her hair was the worst rat's nest I've ever seen. I had the hospital telling me I should consider a PEG tube for feeding and hospice care! My mother has been away from Desert View for 2 weeks. She eats, drinks, talks, walks, and scoots in her wheelchair while we're building back up her strength. All they had to do was feed her! They were overmedicating her to the point she was a zombie and not moving. She was constantly rubbing her eye. I adjusted her meds and she hasn't touched her eye in 9 days! We cut her hair, no more tangles. We take the time and feed her and don't let her put her hands in the food if it's not meant to be eaten that way. She has improved 1000%! They have lost (or tossed or stolen) pictures, statue/figurines of elephants AND 3 porcelain dolls that were mine that I took to share with my mother. I was never told there was a chance they could go missing. I was told they were in a drawer and being swapped out and everything was fine. I told them if they became a problem to let me know, that they were for HER. Now? Missing. I keep getting the runaround. No one can find them. I told the director that if they are not there on the premises, then they are STOLEN! Also said I'd like to know how he's going to make it right. Haven't heard back. Funny how that happens. This place is the LAST place I would take a loved one. Understaffed and no one knows anything. The residents are NOT cared for. They are left on their own, put in front of a TV with no interaction. No stimulation. The attached picture is her mattress while still at Desert View before removing her belongings.

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2022/08/04) */ Contact Name and Title: Mike T****, Exec. Dir Contact Phone: ********** Contact Email: michael.t****@desertviewseniorliving.com Desert View regularly seeks out input from various sources so as to improve on our services. Providing assistance to seniors is a role we never take lightly. A regular reminder to our employees includes "We have a tremendous privilege to provide care to some of the most vulnerable members of our society, and we owe top care to them". Complaints are always opportunities to learn and move forward with renewed vigor and resolve to provide great care to great people. Our intent everyday continues to be Loving our employee and the residents who call us home. Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2022/08/05) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I do not accept the "fluffy," placating and canned response. I would like Desert View to return the payment for AT LEAST July. My mother went to the hospital on 6/19 and never went back. After communicating with the director, I thought this was someone to count on. Originally we agreed on half the month of July. After seeing her almost instant improvement AND seeing that mattress in her room and hardly having any of her own clothes and many missing items (to which I have never been contacted about still) Desert View should return AT LEAST the amount paid for July. I personally feel they should be investigated for the residents who have to remain, but for all of the lost/stolen items, and the severity of how neglected she was, she deserves compensation. Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2022/08/08) */ The family member making the complaint was not named or included on the resident's admission documentation. The Admission Documents address the items listed in the complaints. The dolls were addressed in the Personal Property section. The 30 Day notice given was addressed in the notice section. Haircuts are addressed in the Salon section. The section on Resdent Rights allows residents the options to live as they wish within certain parameters.
