My 80 year old mother had an appointment this this business. I asked if I could transport her there by gurney, but they said they could not accommodate the space for gurney. I said if I could bring her in a wheel chair and they said it would be fine. I got to the appointment and was told by the office manager that the provider wouldn’t be able to see us because my mother was reclined in her wheel chair and she said there wasn’t enough room in the office. I told her I would just push the chair back into a sitting position. She said it was fine and left. She then returned and said, well can she go back by herself. We only allow 1 person back and I replied, yes she can go back on her own. The office manager left again and then returned asking if my Mom could speak, to which I replied yes. The office manager left again and then returned and asked if my mom could push her wheel chair wheels herself to get into the room, to which I replied no. She then said well the provider can’t work with patients in her condition. I asked who I could make a complaint with and she said I could with the provider, who refuses to even come out and see my Mom or evaluate her. It feels very discriminatory, almost like the provider saw my little old Mom who couldn’t walk and made some false assumptions about her and choose to not want to deal with a patient like her. Maybe they felt she was too old or maybe that she wasn’t worth pain management because she had a few different conditions. Either way, we won’t know because they refuse to speak with me or even saws my Mom on her appointment time we showed up for.
