I saw an advertisement on ******** where this company, Consumer Edge could get me out of my existing timeshare. They had meetings set up at a hotel in ********, **. I went to the meeting, gave them all of my paperwork on the timeshare and they guaranteed me that they could exit me from my timeshare within a few months. They filled out all of the paperwork for me to get a credit card that had zero interest for 12 months. I unlocked my credit reports and they filled out all of the information. That should actually be illegal. Once the credit card was approved, they waited and then insisted that I give them the credit card number and other codes so that they could charge the full amount up front of $7,499. This happened on October 25, 2023.My dispute is that as I was attempting to make an association payment to the timeshare, I was told that I was already in an exit plan through the timeshare, therefore this company can do nothing for me. The person I spoke to at Hyatt Resorts said that Consumer Edge is a fraud company and that I should contact you BBB to dispute these charges. Of course, they will never give me my money back. I gave them all of my documents for the resort and they looked up all of my information, so they already knew before they took my money that they were not going to be able to assist me even though they guaranteed me that they could get me out of my timeshare.I have just now looked at other complaints on your site and, Oh My God. They are a fraud.I would like to get all of if not a portion of my money back from this company since they are not able to fulfill their promise. I am a retired individual on a fixed income and $7,500 is a lot of money that I could use for other things needed, such as medicine and doctor ************* I can't believe they took advantage of an elderly person. Please let me know what can be done. thanks.Business response

After a conversation with ****************, she realized that the resort had convinced her to file a complaint about us to attempt to get our company to refund her and stop helping her.
**************** called them to speak to them about her Maintenance Fee payments and as soon as she told them that we were helping her out of her timeshare by finding a new owner, they told her we were a scam immediately and to file a BBB complaint to get us to cancel agreements and refund her money. When she asked the ******* Representative if she should call and talk to us first about the situation to see if a compromise could be made, the Hyatt Representative told her to absolutely not contact us and just file the BBB complaint.
After Speaking to **************** we have agreed to continue to help her and to also ensure that ***** does what they promised they would do. We apologize that ***** put her through this scare and hopefully is more honest with their owners in the future.
