On 4/8/2022 I took my car to AAmco but before I went to them i took my car to get a smog test and they gave 3 codes that needed to be fixed for the car to pass smog. I gave AAmco the same codes that i received from the smog test. The P2096 code is one of the three codes my car was diagnosed with which is connected to the catalytic converter . The main point is my car never would be fixed without the catalytic converter because it is a 3500 dollar fix that they waited until i brought the car back on 4/11/2022 to tell me they dont fix catalytic converters but on 4/8/2022 when i originally brought the car in to them they told me that they could fix it but it was not a major issue and suggested that i get the other 2 codes done and drive it for a while and if the light does not go off then the can look at the catalytic converter. However when i took it back on 4/11/2022 they told me the catalytic converter was busted and had a leak which they never mentioned in the beginning. I know that the scammed me to get the 541.00 first and then tell me after that to take it somewhere else because the catalytic converter was a very expensive job i could not afford and had i known that from the beginning i would not have let them fix anything because my whole reason for the visit its so that i could get my car fixed and registered but now i still cant get it registered, and out of 541.00 and a car. I would like my money back because they knew from the beginning what was going on and had i known they couldnt do the whole job i would never have got the other things done on the car but yet they waited to tell me after.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/19) */ we fixed 2 other codes in system sometimes u have to do that 1st because one code can trip another i advised him his cat converter had a leak in it thats what was tripping code it just needs a spot weld even if it did need cat they r not $3500 after 21 years in business here w an a rating with the bbb im not going too start scamming people now we worked on that car almost all day Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/20) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Yes I stated in the original response that 2 other codes were fixed the cat was the 3rd code on the smog text results given to Aamco before they service my car. Aamco wrote in there response that they don't well but that is a short term patch up job that I'm not interested in getting done. They been in business 21 years but the more knowledgeable decision would be to replace the catalytic converter for new parts because the current Cat has air leaks and is busted they originally told me 3500 is a real quoted price that I received from another shop for a new Cat. Im not interested in a well job so why reference me to a exhaust shop if Aamco could fix my car with new parts from the beginning. I need a reliable maintenance job to help me legit pass the smog test. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/04/21) */ his catalytic converter has a small hole in the weld from poor installation to weld this hole to stop air leak which causes code would be the first thing i would try if it where my car to avoid the cost of a new converter and it is a LEGIT repair if he chooses not to do that the converter can be replaced for about $1000 - to $1200 depending on availability not $3500 figure that number never came out of my mouth at this point that is what i can offerInitial Complaint

I paid ron 2306.29 to fix my clutch on my 2013 ************ I had to bring my car back to ron 6 times because ron did not fix it right due to buying burnt used clutches and my car is still slipping in 4th and 5th gear, all i want is my car fixed the right way.
