Our gas fireplace and an issue of going off and on by itself if the switch was in the On position. My husband and I researched it and it looked like it might be the thermocouple. It was an inexpensive part, we ordered and replaced it. After this repair, the fireplace would not go on at all. We decided to call a professional. I contacted Zack S**** at Simas Sweepz & Service for repair Oct 23, 2023. He came to our house Oct 27, 2023. It turned out my husband and I replaced the thermocouple with a generic part and that is why it would not turn on at all. Zack replaced that part with one made by the manufacturer and during the repair another part broke. I had a time constraint due to a 60th wedding anniversary I was hosting and anxious to get it fixed. He told me which assembly to buy from Amazon and also believed the on/off problem was due to wires behind the wall switch. They are small and tend to deteriorate over time. He did some minor work on those. The Amazon part came and we replaced it with Zack's help via text. But then it made a very loud humming sound. I thought maybe Zack had enabled the fan that we had disabled years ago. I removed the light switch, got shocked and contacted him. He came back to the house, adjusted the pilot light and the humming went away. We have the same issue. It has not been fixed. I paid $155 for the first visit, another $50 the second visit. He also charged me $150 for the thermocouple, what is normally a $30-40 part. I don't know of another repair person that would have their client do their work. He offered to come back out but was going to charge me again. I called other repair people and was told if they had to return for the same issue they would not continue charging service calls. I brought this to his attentions. Zack also said he would refund me the money and I could get someone else. I contacted him on 12/26 and 1/3 to get on his schedule with no response. I have asked for the refund he offered and have been ghosted.
