I was sent to the infusion lab to get a RhoGAM shot after a miscarriage and was told there was a shortage and the only option I had was to go to the *** Went to the ** to be told they weren't sure if they were actually going to be able to get it for me. I waited there for over 4 hours, had to get a blood draw so they could do a pregnancy test to approve the shot for me. I have been trying to fight this ** bill because I did not need to go to the **, I was forced to so I could get the treatment I needed. they keep telling me well you voluntarily chose to go to the **, that is not true at all. If I wanted to avoid complications in future pregnancies I NEEDED to get this treatment. It's not my responsibility for the hospital to be equipped with something that women need every day in pregnancy and postpartum and I should not have to pay for an ** visit that wasn't necessary. The doctor and nurses in the ** and infusion lab were great, this is an issue with the billing and management of Renown.Review from Ann L

On May 22, I was denied medical care at the Renown on *************** because I arrived early, but "not early enough". Staff humiliated me in front of other clients and called me a liar. I believe I was discriminated against, either due to my age or because my *********** Plus medical plan wasn't lucrative enough, compared to other plans. My appointment was at 9am; I arrived five minutes early, and I had checked in online the day before. I was officially checked in at 8:58, two minutes before my appointment. I took time off work for the appointment. Staff checked me in, then returned a few minutes later, telling me that my appointment was cancelled, because I didn't arrive early enough, that they have a policy that people must check in 15 minutes early. They could not show me a written policy or tell me where it was on the website, that an early 15-minute check-in was required. I explained that I had taken time off work and checked in online the day before in order to save time for everyone, to which I was told that I was lying and had not checked in online. After I went through a lengthy explanation of the time I spent checking in online, their next comment was that "online check in was not a real check in", even though the website said it was exactly that. I asked if they had given my appointment to another patient, and they said that the doctor was still seeing an earlier patient. It appears to me that this "policy" is made up by staff for their convenience, when they are overbooked or understaffed.Of the three staff members who humiliated me, I estimate two were in their early 20s, and the supervisor (I'm guessing) was in her 30s or 40s. Is this how Renown trains our young workforce? That it is okay to deny medical care and humiliate clients, because you are most likely understaffed and overbooking patients?Review from Daniel Q

I wish I could give 0 stars. This is the worst hospital system I’ve ever worked with. Multiple bills from multiple companies. Insurance refused to pay surcharges renown tried to bill. No communication of the amount you will pay. Bills aren’t received until a year later. This company is a scam. Do not go hereReview from James D

I have made payments of what I could afford on 3 separate accounts and they still send to collections even if making payments. Horrible customer service from the billing department. Inpatient and expects people to pay thousands of dollars a month.Review from Connie J

Horrible! Neurology Dept is awful! Do not go there. They will not follow through, call patient back, the doctor prescribed the wrong medication...could have sued...I have seven messages to through the hospital website for a referral with no follow up. Would highly recommend NOT going to that hospital AT ALL!! (Not unless you want to live.)Review from Korina E

I had a surgery scheduled for November 1st to remove a brain tumor. Sierra *************************** got authorization from my insurance. I went in for my surgery and they told me my insurance was supplemental. They then went on to tell me I have 100 percent the right to proceed with surgery and receive a bill. The administration also helped me file for emergency medical and we payed an 100 dollar copay. At every appointment they expressed how urgent it was to remove the tumor sooner rather than later because I was not having memory loss or speech problems yet. As I was took back to get prepped for surgery the surgeons came to tellme they recommend I do not proceed with the surgery because of the bill I would receive. I let them know I wasn't worried about my bill I was more concerned with my health and I wanted to proceed. I got prepped an ready for surgery and the surgeon came to tell me she didn't want to proceed with the surgery until she knew how and who would pay for my bill. The next day the *** of Sierra *************************** called me to tell me they don't care about the money. But they don't know if my insurance would cover post op care and that is why they didn't proceed. She stated they would still continue my care even though certain family members of mine got aggressively upset and wanted to file complaints. She stated my brain tumor is not an emergency but they are worried because it can aggressively start growing like a cancer and I can start having symptoms of memory loss and speech problems. If that doesn't sound like an emergency I don't know what would be considered an emergency. I let the *** and every doctor an staff at the hospital know I did not feel comfortable proceeding with treatment by the surgeons. I felt like the surgeons didn't care for my health or well being they cared more about the money. The *** stated that is not the issue but I need to come to a decision soon on my care. And that surgeons here in **** ****** may not want to take my care.Review from Jenny N

I went to a Renown lab and asked how much it would cost to have my lab order done. They gave have me the cost, and I signed their papers. A week later I get charged 200% more in charges. I called to explain what happened and they said what I signed was only an estimate and I am stuck with the now slightly discounted bill which is now about 180% more than my original charges. This is totally unacceptable and a very poor business practice.Review from Patricia H.

I would like to address my most recent stay in your facility and the Emergency Room process that preceded my stay.On the evening in question I was very ill, to the point of not being able to stand, sit, effectively communicate, or even walk without assistance. It was later determined by the blood tests that I had sepsis due to an untreated UTI.The E.R staff kept stating that I needed to sit up in a chair, however, I was entirely too weak and sick to do that. I was throwing up every 5 minutes or so and had been for a while before coming in so you can imagine I had little to no strength left in my body. After many lectures about sitting straight The staff finally brought me back to another area, kind of a hallway between their offices. I was still unable to sit. I would have thought when a patient arrives that is too weak and sick to sit or stand there would be a little more compassion instead of lectures. I was treated like a nuisance. When I was finally offered a ****** to lie down on my husband helped me onto it and at that point things became much easier, I was still throwing up and pain was starting to radiate through my lower left side of my abdomen but at least I wasnt relegated to the dirty floor any longer.A lady arrived to take me to get a CT scan; I was weak but able to walk slowly with help. As we left the room she suddenly turned and rudely stated to the staff who was standing there that I cannot scan this (her words) like I am some sort of an object instead of a human being in need of emergency care. I am not a this I am an adult woman who deserves compassion when seriously ill, not mockery and disdain.I am very disheartened that your ER staff treated me like a nuisance instead of a 54 year old woman with sepsis who came to your Emergency Room for help because I was too weak and sick to take care of myself.I am now sick again - their antibiotics are not working and I am too afraid to go back because of how awful I was treated.Review from ED E

0 Stars! The worst care you can imagine. Horrific how they treated my mother on several occasions. Misdiagnosed each time, St. ****** was able to diagnose first attempt. Only go here if it's truly life threatening and can't get to one of the other regional hospitals, cross your fingers. Filing complaints with every place imaginable and hopefully one day they make some sweeping changes if there are enough.Renown Health Response

We took our ************************************************************************** Basketball checked out because we are from a very small rural town that doesn't have the facilities or imaging capabilities to properly diagnose his type of injury. We sat in the waiting room for 4 hours. By the time they got us into an exam room we were completely exhausted as it had been a 2.5 hour drive just to get there. They did an x-ray which didn't show anything which we didn't figure it would becquse xrays don't show tears. I was then informed that the didn't have an MRI there. I question this because Renown is one of the largest hospital in Reno. In my exhaustion I forgot to mention that we were bringing him in because his hand was getting worse and that he had previously had an MRI that showed a partial tear. ******************** exited the room and left the door open my son and I could hear her in the hall very rudely telling others that we didn't inform her. Which my mistake but maybe if it hadn't been midnight by the time we were seen we would have remembered. Our whole interaction with her seemed to be dismissive and rude until I told her that we weren't intentionally withholding information. I am very displeased with how we were treated when all we were trying to do was make sure my son's hand was ok.Renown Health Response
