I contracted and paid a deposit with Brandon (Super Movers) on Aug 12, 2023 for $1,200. We touched base several times and I provided him with a list of items and pictures. On Thurs Sept 28 David M***** contacted me as the driver for the move. I double checked with Brandon this was correct. David asked for a $200 deposit. I confirmed with Brandon about the deposit because I was supposed to give Brandon the deposit (completed already), then a payment on pick-up, and then the last payment on drop-off. Brandon said to do the deposit and pay the other $600 at pick-up for David, and then the last $800 after the items were delivered. I agreed, and cash-apped David $200. On the day of pick-up (Sat Sept 30), David originally sent a text saying he was running later, and then did not show up at the new time. I tried calling and texting him several times before contacting Brandon, who was in the middle of another job and put me off until late into the day. Finally, Brandon said he found me another mover and then two different people called me saying they would be my new movers, one of whom requested another deposit ($25) for gas. I called Brandon back and after some conversation it became clear he had no professional or past experience with the either of them and hired them randomly off – in his words - an online “moving platform.” He admitted the one who asked for a deposit also sounded like a scam. I told him I needed to empty my apartment and would call him afterwards. I then had to have several friends and neighbors help me move all items out of my apartment so I could meet my landlord’s deadline to vacate the apartment and get it inspected. After the inspection was finished, I contacted Brandon again, and did not hear back from him until the next day.
